" Dylan Lawlor nominated for Goal of the Season "

Fri Apr 17, 2026 3:11 pm

The shortlist for the EFL Goal of the Season, sponsored by Hawk-Eye Innovations, has been revealed.

Watch the goals below and find out the winner during Sunday night's award ceremony, which can be watched live on Sky Sports Football from 8.30pm.

Here are the five goals in the running:

Shea Charles – SOUTHAMPTON v Oxford United – 21 March

Southampton’s short corner routine looked odd as Charles ran onto the ball 35 yards from goal. He turned into a stroke of genius with a shot of stunning power and awe-inspiring curl.

Josh Tymon – SWANSEA CITY v Oxford United – 6 December

Thigh-high volleys do not come any sweeter. Tymon had no time to adjust his body, so he had to lean to his right and allow his left foot to trace an arc that sent the ball spinning into the net.

Abdul Fatawu – LEICESTER CITY v Ipswich Town – 13 December

Intercepting the ball ten yards outside his own penalty area, Fatawu beat a man before taking aim at the Ipswich goal nearly 60 yards away. He found it with a piercing swish of his left boot.

Dylan Lawlor – Doncaster Rovers v CARDIFF CITY – 28 February

It took Lawlor 11 seconds and 12 touches of the ball to travel 70 yards upfield, beating three Doncaster players on the way while others backed off, before he found the bottom corner.

Reyes Cleary – Bradford City v BARNSLEY – 18 October

Cleary combined audacity with surgical precision. He had not reached the centre circle when he let fly with a 60-yard lob shot that dipped magically under the bar at the perfect moment.

Well I have to disagree with you , he’s made them look amateur, by the way he moved through them ,
Was absolute quality , and he will do it again
And also the composure to just pass it into the corner was pure slickness

Agreed Richy, the movement from him was class.

I think he'll win because they'll want to give us something, you'd assume the Lincoln manager will win manager of the season and one of their players will win player of the season.

Yes I suppose I'm biased but you see worldie shots every weekend and very long range goals are not that uncommon. But regardless of the inept defending, Lawlor's goal is quite outstanding, and mesmerising to watch him make his way up the pitch before the coolest of side foot finishes. The winner !
