Luton Town have won the 2025/26 Vertu Trophy.

They beat Stockport County 3-1 in the final at Wembley Stadium.

It will be interesting to see what this defeat does to Stockport's play off push. For me, they are the last threat to our second place finish. I am hoping Wimbledon, desperate for points, do us a favour on Wednesday, even a draw would help. I also hope Stockport do not win the play offs either. Awful, thuggish, anti-football team. Prefer Bradford or Stevenage.

For Stockport to be a threat to us they would have to win all their last 6 games which would put them on 85 with a vastly inferior GD inless they smash every one of the 6 teams 4-0.

In contrast we just need a win and two draws from 5 games to get us to 86.

Only if we lose every game by zero goals. And yes I know that's impossible but it's what your "winning every game 4-0" implies. If we lose 2-0 & they win 2-0 then that's a 4 goal swing and a big GD can vanish quite easily that way.

And that's why I don't like saying that goal difference is worth an extra point, because it's not worth anything until the end of the season, the rest is just ifs.

Regardless of the goal difference situation, Stockport aren't going to win six in a row. I think in reality, we probably just need a win - hopefully on Tuesday.

Don't know why, but got a feeling that they'll drop points at Wimbledon on Wednesday.

They would have put a lot into today, even though they lost. Will be hard to pick themselves up after just missing out on a trophy.

Reading their forum, it seems they now have three of their main defenders out injured too.

I also think Stockport are our biggest threat with their "on paper" easier run in than Bradford or Bolton. BUT, they also have to play their 6 games over 18 days, having also played yesterday. That's a hell of a mountain to climb, especially at this stage of the season.

Stockport aren't a threat to us at all anyone that thinks so is overanalyzing they've been the 5th best team all season. A 6 win run isn't going to happen
