7 March: Cardiff top of League One, lose at home to Lincoln,

Tue Apr 07, 2026 2:20 pm

7 March: Cardiff top of League One, lose at home to Lincoln, who overtake them.
6 April: Lincoln promoted, 12 points clear at the top, 24 games unbeaten. Fair play, that's phenomenal.
Cardiff, meanwhile, continue to falter with a draw at Peterborough:
Does Brian Barry-Murphy have the answers other than saying “We wanted to win.”

Most importantly, Cardiff's lead over the chasing pack outside the automatic promotion places has been cut to seven points, albeit with a game in hand.

It would still be an almighty collapse to miss out from here but this run of two wins in eight games has come at a bad time.

I disagree it started when we got slaughtered away at Plymouth. I was there we were dreadful and totally outplayed

A lot of this is down to kellyman going off the boil or on the beach plus isaac chipped in with a goal but we were on top when Joe colwill was scoring and running at defenders his Ommition from the team has been a big factor agressive in the middle also compare to turnback turnbull who looks like a ballet dancer.

Monty,

Remember due to such a small squad and injuries and not bringing back up in, Kellyman was being used like the Main Striker and went down hill.

Playing around with not playing Joel Colwill one minute and then playing him then not does not help.

Yes We will Scrape over the line, But I feel BBM has been found out by League 1 Managers and I really don’t seem him doing well in the Championship as he will be outwitted week in week out, by what I have seen in this lower league

The Last bit about murphy could very well be true, you have to switch style a plan B and to date we have not found one during a game formation wise we keep it the same for 90 mins.

He has NO Plan B anymore.

Championship managers he will struggle to beat, Plymouth Destroyed us and it really was Bad.

Of course we want to win, BBM is sounding like a broken record.
Let’s get the Crowds Roaring and Started not just Winning now but in style starting with Bolton at home and Destroying Port Vale followed by Northampton.

No wonder the Crowds are low at CCS

I think BBM needs to get the players to shoot in target in training.

Ashford did 4 Rugby shots at goal

It begs the question what on earth have we been (not) doing on the training pitch for the past 2 weeks!? Seems that our forwards would rather make an extra pass than take responsibility and smash a shot on target.

Our set piece has also been non-existent all season. One of the biggest frustrations is our refusal (down to BBM?) to change to a more direct tactic when we're chasing a result. All this is total common sense but City seem to be instructed to keep the ball and overplay things rather than keeping it simple!

Should be popping off shots as soon as within range, with others looking for second ball, rebounds etc, especially at this stage of the season

Do agree with most of the above,no plan b and BBM has been found out a bit.Failure to get shots off in good positions and we do get sliced open at the back quite regularly.
Dont see a problem with promotion but if BBB can’t resolve them in the Championship it’s going to be a long hard campaign which could be a disaster.
Lets not forget BBM has been a breath of fresh air this season but he now needs to learn the next stage.

Agree with you Annis, the goals we are conceading are far too easy usually a long ball over the top, why are we not coping with these?? What really annoys me is after being top of the table for 4 months we've now let Lincoln run away with the title. 9 points from the lazt 24 is horrific and worrying.

Paul,

We’ve looked terrible at times and not organised.
These lower standard teams have sussed us out and we can’t break them down and defend at times awful.

That’s what’s pissed me off to be top most of the season an just to let it go like this is shocking, I wanted to go up as champions and lay a marker down but it’s Cardiff all over to go up and no1’s really excited it’s like people can’t wait for the season to be over

What really did my crunch on Monday was when we had a freekick in the dying seconds, and rather than chuck a ball straight into their box, we procrastinated around at the back for 5 seconds and, lo and behold, the ref's whistle blew.

It's the fact that we COULD have had a chance vs we definitely were NOT going to get a chance!

Peterborough's scoreboard could not have been more clear: it said exactly how much time had been added, and that we were 4:55 into it when we took the freekick.

And don’t forget when 3 City players lined up to shoot, NO ONE WOULD, they passed to each other.

What do they do in training??

No good having games in hand if you rarely score or win!!!

Yeah points on the board matter more and we've got them too.

Youm mad, probably still think signing a striker in January wasn't necessary, if we signed someone like the one Argyle signed (Tolaj) we'd be up now!!

Unfortunately, it's all in hindsight now, we are where we are and its up to the players to perform these remaining games, though I do have flashbacks to our 8 cup finals last season! :bluebird:

But we won our next game 4-0 (after Plymouth) & we drew & won another 4-0 after Lincoln so I'm not sure if losing to Plymouth or Lincoln was the cause of our "downfall" that people think it is.

Good points, I dont like to say it but form dropped when Rubin started back, we seemed to be more fluid and quicker without him

Both those 4-0 wins were the two games where rubin ran the show , I belive we were definitely more consistent when Joel was playing number 10 and I'd revert back to that for the next few games with either rubin or kellyman playing the false 9 if salech isn't fit to start
