Player of the Season

Postby worcester_ccfc » Fri Apr 03, 2026 10:08 am

The club have opened Player of the Season voting. Full details below.

Who would you vote for?

Bluebirds supporters can now vote for their Player of the Season for the 2025/26 campaign.

The Award will be presented at our 2026 Awards Evening on Saturday, April 25th.

There are six City players to choose from, and your votes alone will determine the winner! Read through our shortlist and then cast your vote at the bottom of the page.

Voting closes at midday on Friday, April 10th.

JOEL BAGAN

Solid and dependable in defence, Joel has missed just one Sky Bet League One fixture so far this season.

The left back has been a mainstay in the City side this term, having made 38 league appearances to date and featured in every match during our run to the Quarter Finals of the Carabao Cup.

The 24-year-old has contributed with five assists, including an excellent cross for Will Fish's winner at Wrexham, and scored a dramatic 90+9th minute winner against Doncaster Rovers back in December.

RUBIN COLWILL

Now in his sixth season as a senior Bluebird, Rubin was voted as the Club's new vice-captain at the start of the season.

Also taking the number 10 shirt, the playmaker got off to a flying start with four goal contributions in our opening six league fixtures. Across 29 games in all competitions, Colwill has scored seven and assisted six so far this term.

After missing a chunk of our winter fixtures through injury, Rubin returned to the side in February and hit three goals in two games, scoring at Barnsley and then netting a first-half brace at Exeter City.

DYLAN LAWLOR

It's been an excellent debut campaign at senior level for Dylan, who was named as the EA Sports FC Young Player of the Month for August after an impressive opening month to the campaign.

The 20-year-old has made 31 appearances so far this season, displaying his defensive abilities and strong ball-playing skills in equal measure.

Lawlor has contributed two assists this term, both inch-perfect clipped balls which Alex Robertson latched onto and scored against Exeter City and Doncaster Rovers respectively, plus two brilliant solo goals against Leyton Orient and Doncaster, the latter of which won the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month for February.

YOUSEF SALECH

Yousef has netted 13 times in all competitions, his first full season in South Wales, and is City's top scorer heading into the final seven games of the campaign.

Having hit the ground running upon arriving in the Welsh capital last term, the striker played in every one of our opening 24 Sky Bet League One matches this season, netting in wins over Rotherham United, Wigan Athletic, Leyton Orient, Reading, Mansfield Town, Huddersfield Town, Doncaster Rovers and Stevenage.

Yousef also scored in key draws on the road; a late header away at Stockport County and a fabulous solo strike against Leyton Orient, earning points which could be crucial come the season's end.

NATHAN TROTT

Nathan became the first ever Cardiff City goalkeeper to record five clean sheets in his first five appearances for the Club.

Those shutouts came against Port Vale, Rotherham United, AFC Wimbledon, Luton Town and Plymouth Argyle back in August, setting the tone for what has so far been a successful season in South Wales.

Trott has kept 14 clean sheets in total this season, making a number of incredible saves, against the likes of Northampton Town, Luton Town and Barnsley. The 27-year-old has also demonstrated composure and quality with the ball at his feet throughout the campaign, significantly aiding Brian Barry-Murphy's style of play.

RYAN WINTLE

Ryan has been an instrumental member of the Bluebirds' side this season, appearing 41 times in all competitions in the heart of midfield.

Setting the tempo from the deepest midfield spot, the 28-year-old has contributed with five assists so far this term - the pick of the bunch perhaps being a neat backheel to set up Alex Robertson for a curling strike away at Exeter City.

As well as creating them, Ryan has also scored a screamer of his own this season - a thunderbolt from the edge of the area to open the scoring against Plymouth Argyle back in August.

Some great options there but personally my vote is for Ryan Wintle.

I didn't go into this season expecting him to be in contention for Player of the Season, but he's surprised me and had a great season.

Been very consistent, played plenty of games and I have to vote for him.

Wintle clear winner for me.
First half of the season I would have given it to Trott by a distance but I think he's had a fairly poor end to the year

Any or all of those players (and more) could/should receive an award for their efforts for the Bluebirds this season! :bluebird: :bluescarf:

The delight of seeing so many youngsters coming through is also highly commendable and our own Dylan Lawlor (surely in the running and nailed on for Young Player of the Season)

However, decisions have to be made and I’ve looked at consistency over the season, which for me, narrowed it down to three:

Nathan Trott
Came in and was ‘class’ from the off and kept us in many a game!

Joel Bagan
Pretty much our only left back for most of the season, great performances, little respite, and let no one down!

Ryan Wintle
Once BBM recognised his ‘best’ midfield pairing, Ryan was ‘Mr Consistency’ and won a number of ‘Man of the Match’ votes on this Forum

After careful thought, I’ve given my vote to one of my favourite Bluebirds, Joel Bagan  :ayatollah:
This is OUR club, not Vincent Tan’s! He is a temporary custodian and will be judged on the state he leaves us in when he leaves!

Between Wintle and Bagan for me....... went for Wintle. He's been solid throughout the season and we missed him badly in the few games he didn't play.

I’m a big fan of Joel as well and hope he’s used more with the run in coming up.

The vote should be the consistency over the whole season though and for me Wintle just edges it over Bagan.

Wintle hands down, and in terms of best developed player this season is really close between Bagan and Lawlor. Lawlor is going places.

Lots of players have been in great form for patches of the season. Trott and Rubin won us a lot of points in the first few months. Salech went on a hot streak from November until his injury and I'd argue Tanner has carried us since his return. Pure consistency Wintle or Bagan
