Sala case -Didnt we sell some of our rights for £12 million?

Tue Mar 31, 2026 4:30 pm

I am no fan of Tans and think he has dragged this club through the mud over the Sala case. But didn't we sell the rights of some of the compensation for £12 million. The 2024 accounts refer to this, in which case we have not wasted our money on this case. I cant see what else it can be. Can someone clarify?

Also we received £5 million in respect of settlement of a contractual dispute, which I assume was with the insurance company meeting us a third of the way for the Sala fee.

This all rings a bell but I can’t be sure right now!

It’s a sad state of affairs when people asking questions such as yours feel the need to pre-fix posts with “I’m no fan of Tan but…!

I (genuinely) don’t know any Tan ‘supporters’ but I do understand there are posters who ask ‘across the board’ questions about topics that can (and often do) have an effect on the club we love! :ayatollah:

We’ll 100% appeal even on the slim chance Tan himself has given up. They will expect every possible avenue pursued for the money they’ve invested.

Interesting. I hadn't thought of that possibility. A way of funding the club without breaking the FFP rules and at the same time ensuring he gets a big cut of the potential damages. But if so it would have to be disclosed in the accounts as a related party transaction, unless he chanelled it through a third party. If the latter we could be in trouble with EFL if they find out , though i cant see how the auditors wouldn't have picked that up..
