BBM: We were the dominant team

Tue Mar 17, 2026 11:03 pm

BBM:

“I’m very disappointed with the result. I felt naturally that we were in good control of the game, but the sending off changes a lot of the game.

“The players’ efforts were incredible. We created good chances with ten men in the second half, and I thought we would score, but we didn’t.

“We attacked right to the end. We had a decision to make when Gabriel [Osho] got sent off about whether to bring on another centre-back, but we kept all our players on the pitch in the same way as we did at Rotherham. Performance wise, I thought it gave us a great chance to win the game, but we just couldn’t take our chances and we conceded.

“I thought we were in control of the game at all stages, even with ten men. I thought we were the dominant team, but the scoreline doesn’t reflect that and that’s all people will remember.

“I think we’re in pretty good form, performance wise. We want to win all our eight remaining games. Our intention is to try and win every single one.

"I’m very pleased with the players and where we are. I thought we played brilliantly on Saturday; there was so much expression in the performance.

“We feel as if we’re learning a lot during the course of the season. We're very keen to have more opportunities on goal, more shots, more crosses, more goalmouth action for the supporters to enjoy. We did that on Saturday and the same tonight, but I think we've been the top scorers in the league for quite a lot of different periods, so I don't think we can criticise the players for that.”

He's right we were on the front foot even with 10 men

It was the counters where the man advantage seemed to hurt us and we dealt with it just about until the last 10 minutes when they caught us with the long overhead

We also probably have the best squad in terms of talent, and undoubtedly, this is 100% BBM, he has improved everyone. But he has few answers when the system doesn't work.
Its not the U21 elite development league when results don't matter, they do in the pro's.
He annoys me at times, but this is not his squad, he inherited, right-sized, and improved it, but its so one-dimensional.

"We attacked to the end"

Down the flanks then passing it around with some tip tap passes then backwards then across the pitch then down the other flank and repeat or event trott and repeat over and over.

Except long pot shots we had one proper save all night and we had 11 men then although the liability shouldnt be near a blue shirt he's had his chances.

In my opinion BBM does not know any other system despite where we are in the league teams have sussed his ways out now so nullifies us with narrow box sitting in two banks and let us pass it about the sides and across the pitch because we have nothing in the middle to aim for so going nowhere really. When we do actually cross a ball or get a set piece it's abysmal delivery in most cases or nobody there on the end of it.

Some of the short corners of late have been embarrassing we lose the ball or mess up within ten seconds and the center halfs are sprinting back with no cross going in due to this whole pass, pass, pas and lose it. Cross the f*cking thing :banghead:

It's worked but now that's over id say some teams got our number it's proven. Although some have not yet but we should dribble over the line fingers crossed :bluescarf:

I thought we were still on top even with ten men and if Ashford scores the chance he had it gives us something to hold on to, nothings changed for me we still need 4 wins but Saturday is a must win to send us in to the break with a 10 point cushion minimum

BBM has rightly been praised this season but he and his team are starting to bottle it

BBM and his team were not good enough tonight

They need to knuckle down and beat ordinary sides

I usually agree with BBM:

But last night and what I saw :

CARDIFF CITY POSSESSION 56 % 16 SHOTS / SHOTS ON TARGET 2

WYCOMBE WANDERERS POSSESSION 44%. 16 SHOTS / SHOTS ON TARGET 4

We are not in good form Played 6 W 2 D1 L 3

BBM this time you are talking a lot of crap and the pressure is getting to you.

For me it was simple - Wintle is not a centre back. I could not understand why he didn’t bring one of the CBs on. He gambled and we we payed the price.
We are struggling at times without a centre forward and the we try and cope without one centre back.

Agree with this, BBM needs to have a "plan B" at times, last nights sending off on half time should have giving us time to re-shuffle and bringing on a CH for the second half was the obvious choice. Sometimes if you can't win don't lose but BBM seems to go for it at any cost in every game. We have now lost 3 out of the last 6 and 2 on a trot at home, there are some players who are not playing to their best and need to roll their sleeves up and get us over the line ASAP.

This is how I see it too he sent the team out second half with the attitude of we will win anyway. Wintle at centre half was madness and too stubborn. Every stat in the world is going to tell you that going a man down that early in a game has killed your chances of winning it. Put Fish or Chambers in and just take the draw
