Robinson - BBM's Aguero?

Mon Mar 16, 2026 7:54 pm

I remember when Pep first went in at Man City, he already had Aguero in the squad. He kept him for a season and then moved him on. Think it was only one season.

He wasn't Pep's type of player despite a great goalscoring record. Man City then played with mostly false nines for years before they eventually signed Haaland.

Is that the situation with Robinson?

We all know he can score goals but he's not getting much other than substitute appearances.

I think BBM will try and move him on in the summer, he's clearly not BBM's type of player and we know Pep is a big influence on our manager which is why I refer to Aguero.

Whereas Salech is similar to Haaland in terms of attributes (obviously not saying Salech is anywhere near the level of Haaland).

I get the gist, but Augero played for 5 seasons. He made him more into a Pep player (worked harder), but he was 27~32 in that period.

Robinsons legs and mobility have gone. I can see us giving him a financial incentive to find a club that appreciates his finishing, whilst hiding his limitations

My memory is obviously worse than even I thought

Just remembered Pep letting him go and there being outcry from the media, didn't realise he'd kept him a bit longer.

Yeah, I'd be amazed if Robinson is with us next season. Swansea at home last season will be remembered though in terms of him.
