In fairness, according to google the low entry wage for a factory worker in 1981 was £40 a week, and in today’s market it’s around £500 a week.

Back then it was 3% of the weekly wage, now it’s 4%, which surprisingly isn’t as big as I thought it would be.

House prices are the worst, back then they were 2.5 times the average wage, now it’s 8 times

£54 for us in (old) Division 2

£75 for the tramps in the same league (c.50% more)!

Some things never change! :ayatollah:

For me, it was collecting the junior bluebirds vouchers out of the SW Echo, grabbing an adult in the queue so you could get in for a £1.

Watching Dale and Pike destroy the teams we played in D3 as they both had a wonder of a season in 92 leading to that game in Scunthorpe.

I do miss the older days.

I’m so glad you didn’t say Dale and Stant.

I remember always seeing how Dale and Stant ripped teams apart.

I think they played maybe three games together cos of injury.

Bloody loved Carl Dale but Stant was an absolute hero

I think I paid £11.00 for my first season ticket for Grange end back in 1976. 50p to pay on gate.

£9.00 for my first season ticket in 1975 on the Bob Bank as a teenager when I was tall enough.

Prior to that, I paid 50p per match at the turnstiles for the Canton stand seats around 1973/4.

Don't know if it was relatively cheaper back then. What I do know is crowds then were very low everywhere in 1981 and got even worse a few years later

Millwall's season ticket in the 3rd division at 60 quid is more than most of the first division teams but Arsenal at 84 & Nott Forest at 70 are just ridiculous prices.
