Why oh why

Tue Mar 10, 2026 9:47 pm

We were the better team in the 2nd half when BBM brought on Ashford for Willock. But why oh why then bring on Robinson and keep Rubin on as well. The game then fizzled out and Barnsley were ecstatic at getting a point!
Those 2 should never be in the same 11. That was one of the reasons that we went down under Riza.

Robinson and Chambers are our highest earners and we carry them.......

We missed Joel s industry, Robin loses the ball too much in possession for a big guy, Robinson no good too easily moved off the ball.
Need Salech back and balls into the box

Agreed. I was dead against giving Robinson a new contract. But I guess WBA bought Zahore for an inflated price and Robinson was payback time!
Still think we will go up, but Chambers is too slow for the Championship. And defo need to (somehow) offload Robinson!

B.t.w. I still think if we had played JC midfield with Kellyman up top we’d have won. It seems BBM thought he had to squeeze Rubin into the starting 11.
In BBM we still trust.

We should have signed a striker in january.

Agreed, but in order to do that we needed to get shot of Robinson, and get a young hungry forward in ( BBM WOULD DEVELOP HIM.)
Some say do we miss Salach? Of bleeding course we do! Just a simple eg. We have no other attacker who is any good in the air.
Most of our stats are great this year, but we must have one of the worst % returns from corners in the league!!
On a positive Scanlon looked good.

If Joel starts for Rubin we win that game easily, Rubin is back to being a luxury player

Bit harsh on Robinson.

I thought he worked hard when he came on, ran to the wings a few times to keep a move going.

No big goalscoring chance for him but seemed to do the other things right.

Point me to those posts dead set against Robinson getting a new contract.

If you were, you were against the grain.

Rubin should of been replaced..
Think we need to keep Chambers for his experiance, how was Lawlor outpaced by McColdric..think i spelt that wrong

No long term strategy
Lack of decent investment
An inexperienced manager
A bang average squad

What Riza needs to do?
1/Choose a starting11 of players who give 1000%
2/Set us up so we are hard to beat
3/Try to ensure some pace in attack

Dont keep doing the same thing and expect a different result. Eg don’t play CR and Rubin in the same team - too slow and le

NB I cant be arsed to look for other thraeds but i said the same type of thing about Robinson on mant threads(including one by Annis saying it as great that ee extended his contract.Nothing personal but I never rated him! Just my opinion, and I realize Ive been a bit like a broken record!! :o :bluebird:

Completely irrelevant post to what I asked for.

Plenty were happy we extended his contract as he scored a fair few for us.

It’s one of them that people use hindsight for.

I think our transfer window has generally been pretty good. If we get a decent winger, then very good. Younger players who will develop and be part of our strategy going forward.
I think decisions to extend contracts has been generally ok.
BUT ….
the decision to extend Robinsons contract by 2 years I don’t get at all. Yes he has had a purple patch of scoring but his carer as a 30 year old shows that its just that…, a purple patch. And I am genuinely pleased he got the goals. But is he the answer if we want to compete near the top of the Champioship.
Just watched my team lose 7-0 and Robbo trot around with minimum effort, like a man with those old deep sea divers boots on his feet.
TWO more years - not for me.

Is this proof enough??? Or irrelevant???

the If you still won’t admit that what I am saying now is what I said at the time of the contract extension, then I give up!!

Certain players might off had knocks or illnesses we fans just don't know. We know Perry NG was ill recently that's why he never played before our last game.
So I am not too concerned with performances because our squad is stretched at the moment and I think we are
just missing Salech up front. It's fantastic that he is back training again but I don't expect him to start games potentially until we face Bolton. He might be on the bench at games before Bolton but yeah we are missing a big presence up front for sure.

I wasn’t doubting you I was asking. That’s conclusive.

I think you were right. Many others wanted him to have his contract extended after a purple patch.
