I watched Tanner very closely today and he was absolutely appalling. Barely found his man with any pass including corners, constantly lost the ball and was directly responsible for BOTH goals after giving the ball away.
Other extremely poor players today were Osho yet again he got bullied. Trott looks like a jigsaw and goes to pieces when the ball is crossed into our area. Fish was also poor along side Kipacio.
Kelleman did zero whilst on the pitch.
Overall a real bad day at the office. Credit to Lincoln for doing a job on us and the double. They deserve to win the league.
we definitely missed salech today.

He was played on the wrong wing today, but he had just one of those days where he just looked casual with everything he did. The pass for the second goal was a terrible bit of play.
I also wonder if we are a better team without Rubin in the team. When he’s playing as a false 9 he can’t drop as deep as he was it just congests the midfield so much

We definitely are better with out Rubin. I said it a few times now. He’s ok against lesser league one teams anyone decent he’s a hindrance, which is why he can cut it at championship level and never will.

We played a physical, extremely well-drilled and highly organised team.
We, on the other hand, without a proper centre forward, were a fluid blob. It works against lesser teams, but they ate us up.
Rubin is unstructured; he needs to be a more structured system than today. He is never a 9, whether false or not. But he did more than Kellyman and Robertson, who went AWOL.

Tanner and Kellyman played out of position to accommodate Rubin who was awful. Their first goal was just a good goal people just have it out for Osho. Fish should have at least attempted to push the player wide for their second. Trott was fine. Kpakio was fine. Rubin was the issue if your going to move everyone around he has to produce

Bit harsh on Tanner, hes been one of our best players.
Being played out of position against the best team in the league was always going to cause us issues.

He’s been brilliant for us since coming back from injury, but I think he really could improve on his football intelligence. He’s been punished twice today, but it’s happened several times this season him giving away cheap possession when we have many players on the attack.

You can tell with Tanner that he's not come through the professional pathway. He just lacks that finesse, that supreme first touch.
He's a great, direct runner and strong too. Also love his workrate without the ball. But he can be frustrating at times.

Agree with all that.

Agree, his 1st touch is poor. His directness once he has the ball under control is his best attribute.

I commented mid-week in the Ashford thread that managers look at different metrics than fans.
We love Tanners care free attacking style, but his mistakes led to goals, whereas the point made earlier in the thread was that the academy product Ashford rarely makes reckless passes or turnovers, so the manager loves him. Especially, this system manager we have

Lincoln had the ball for a long time after he lost it especially on the first occasion, which I thought was a very good goal. The second goal was as much on Fish as Tanner you've got to try and push the striker to the outside, not walk him into the middle of the penalty area

He’s crap, shit at championship level anyway hardly done anything, wow because he scored against Swansea 3 years ago everyone loves him

Though Rubin gave the ball away in very critical areas.
Tanners return has been a huge bonus for us.

Tanner was truly awful today, whether you rate him or not.
Ruben was superb on the first half but definitely faded in the second half.
I thought we would have been better with Kellyman down the middle.
I’d also say Bagan was really poor today, particularly in the second half. I’m not sure what Scanlon would have been thinking sat on the bench !!

Tanner was poor today but don't think it helped he was switched from his normal wing to accommodate Kellyman and rubin in the starting 11

I don’t know about anyone else but Ollie chewing during the game just gives off the wrong impression he really looks like he couldn’t care less. By the way I know he cares and loves being here but it’s not a good look.

Tanner is hit or miss; he is a winger after all.
I am not sure BBM wants old school wingers, we'll pass you to death rather than 1 on 1's.
Sat Mar 07, 2026 10:22 pm
Tanner was on the wrong side for most of the game. That didn't help.
Kellyman is a 10 or a striker, not a winger.
The manager made mistakes today but we will still be promoted.

Tanner and Kellyman were by far our best two players in that defeat at Plymouth linking together really well. Yet BBM plays Tanner on the opposite wing against Lincoln and put Kellyman on the other wing.
Agree that Tanner didn't play well yesterday but he still had our best effort of the game and was being very closely marked and on a couple of occasions had three players around him.
