Dylan Lawlor

Sat Feb 28, 2026 6:52 pm

Lawlor will leave us at some point, he's far too good to not eventually get a move to a big club.

They were watching him even before this season, that's how BBM and Lee Riley knew about him already and others from their Man City time.

I just hope we can keep him for one more season. If he did join a big club, unlikely he'd play much Premier League football yet.

One thing we'll be able to offer if promoted is for him to play games in the Championship and we are managing his fitness well as he's a young player.

Hope that's enough to keep him for another year. That new contract for him was massive, he was going to not sign a new contract before BBM came in.

If he was not going to sign until BBM came in - then that should guarantee the club a massive fee. Please don't allow him to go cheap like Ramsey and make certain the bluebirds play him - not like Ramsey which was a disgrace when he was a sub in the FA cup final !

I wouldn't worry too much about that it's a slightly different situation. Lawlor is pretty much already one of Wales best players, has put in MOTM international performances and has multiple big clubs looking at him there's likely to be a bidding war for him.

Goallll of the season Dylan lawlor take a BOW brilliant!!!

What do you think is a realistic valuation of the kid?

He’s already proved he can do it international level.

I’d say at least £20m perhaps more.

Liverpool just signed a French 20 year old CB for £70m….

Don't know if we'd get that much for a player that has only played club football in League One.

Another reason I hope he stays another year, his value will only go up further by playing in the Championship.

Won't be surprised if there's an eight figure release clause in his new contract.

The club shouldn't just jump at any offer

I think we sold McGuinness for around 10 million so we could easily get double that for Lawlor

Another 10 million on his value .

Why is anyone talking about selling him? For years people on this blog have been complaining about various managers who simply did not play our home grown youngsters. Now we have a brilliant manager who has based his team around players that have come through our academy. We appear to be on track to gain promotion. It is not unheard of for teams that do well in League 1 to go on and storm the Championship. Is the Premier League really beyond our aspirations? Does Lawlor need to be sold for him & us to realize our dreams?

Lawlor was at a fans forum with bbm and a few other players a couple of days ago and he said he wants to be around for a while and be part of what bbm is building

I know nothing in football is certain but Dylan is really settled at the club and is quite content to stick around, his dad is my two sons headmaster and there always on at him for reassurance Dylan will be sticking around lmao

In respects to his goal yesterday, lots of socials saying it was Sunday league defending.

I think they do him (and Robertson) a dis-service.

Lawlor burst out of defence, out pacing two players, then easily swerved around the first attempt to tackle him.

After that the defence were on the back foot and Robertson gets credit for drawing the defenders. Lawlor feined a pass and then struck.

The defenders were caught unawares more than wanting.

International football proficiency is not what premier league clubs are looking for. They will wait until he does it in the championship. League one is not getting you £20 million. Years ago they would have paid £20 million for the potential but not anymore. That goal yesterday and the pass for the first goal will have more checking him out though.

I really think next season he will really thrive at championship level and by January we wiii be looking at £20 million and we will keep him on loan rest of season.

He’s a fair bit below Rodon currently defensively.

Agree with most of that.

But if a neutral watched the last few games with Wales and they had no idea who the players were , there’s no way they could tell who was the PL player and who was the league 1 player

If he does it in the nations league then I think that will really make people notice.

Taking nothing away from Lawlor’s great goal, I’ve played enough competitive football to know someone would have taken Lawlor right out at Sunday league level!

It worse worse than Sunday league defending.

Brilliant - keep your boys at their headmaster for keeping him here!! Which school is that btw?

I arranged and was at the Q&A with BBM in Aberdare last Thursday. Dylan Lawloer, Eli King and Isaak Davies all attended they were all down to earth and very grounded. Has another poster said Lawlor loves playing for the Club and BBM and is very contented at City at the moment. There is no doubt he is a Premiership player in the making as he has all the attributes, however not yet!

Personally i think the Club should be putting a 25 - 30 million reserve on him that way it will scare off any Clubs trying to buy him on the cheap. Then if any of the big boys or a European club come in they pay the going rate plus a 25% sell on clause and a season long loan back. However before that happens i think Clubs will want to see how he does in the Championship that is why i think considering he is settled at City and loves working under BBM then we will have him again next season before he inevitably moves on for BIG money! :old:

Brilliant from Lawlor, but I agree with that. We'd be livid if we let a centre back run through us like that.
