Is it a 3 horse race now?

Sat Feb 28, 2026 5:11 pm

The chasing pack can't really been affording to lose or drop points if we and Lincoln win. I would say Bradford and Stockport can't catch us now. If Bolton slip us once and we win, I think that's them done too. Bolton game is bigger than Lincoln IMHO.

Said it for a while, but I don't see any of the chasing pack from 3rd downwards going on a run good enough to make top two.

11 points is a lot for Bolton to make up, and we have a game in hand. Can't see anything other than us and Lincoln going up, in whatever order.

It's a two horse race Bolton are 10 points from Lincoln and have played a game more, Bradford can go level on points with them with their game in hand.... Absolutely no chance, it's us and Lincoln, we'll see in what order

No way are Bolton catching us.

It’s just whether we come first or second.

We have Lincoln and Bolton at home still to play with an 11 point lead over third. All the cards are in our hands. 6 more wins and 90 points should do it especially if we beat Bolton as one of those games

Bolton to play at the CCS and a game in hand, can't see them catching us + a well superior goal difference.
Lincoln and Cardiff surely both go up automatically now.

Seems everyone is saying the same thing. Surely, we are automatic? Just a point of when mathematics kick in to make it official and the same for Lincoln

1st or 2nd is the question, I feel :ayatollah:

Without wishing to test fate, it’s a ‘done deal’ for me! As Lee says above, it’s just a case of first or second?

Lincoln are in a roll right now, which will help keep our own players focussed for the run-in

The teams behind are running out of both games and steam, as the pressure of ‘the chase’ catches up with them. We see it every season and we were ‘victims’ of it at the other end of the Championship table last season

With only 12 games to go (11 for Bolton and Huddersfield) that means our nearest ‘challengers’ (Bolton and Bradford) would need to win 4 and 5 games more than us just to get ahead. And all of that assumes we will lose the same number of games!

Again without tempting fate, I just can’t see that happening with the way we have been playing (@ Plymouth apart) and I see next weekend’s home game against Lincoln as being more a battle for the title we should be desperate to win, more than one for promotion points

The big advantage we have this season is BBM, who has learned over the years at his other clubs, improved his coaching set by being at the right clubs with the right mentors/managers, and created his own style of play with players who can (and have) adapted to his methodology

This season’s manager/squad is ‘one for the ages’, and we will talk about them for many a year, so let’s just enjoy our moment in the sun and cheer the boys on to promotion! :bluebird: :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

2 horse race for me. 6 wins needed from 12 games.

Our last 12, we've won 7.

Boltons last 7 games are:

Stevenage (H)
Plymouth (A)
Stockport (H)
Cardiff (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Bradford (A)
Luton (H)

That is a minging run in. I think us and Lincoln will finish a fair margin clear.

11 points ahead of 3rd place along with both Lincoln and Us with double the best Goal Difference with 12 games to Go...

boltons last 5 games of the season

plymouth a
stockport h
cardiff a
huddersfield h
bradford a

think they will have to win them all, which is a very big ask

I've broken our last 12 games down into 2 blocks of 6 and if we get 10 points from each block it means bolton need to take 31 points from there last 33

simple
we beat Lincoln we have 1 foot in the championship
we beat Bolton and we are there already
simple as that

or in other words
6 wins and we are promoted
