Omari Kellyman speaking to The Athletic about his injury, Chelsea and Cardiff:

“It is a great environment to be in. This is my first real season in men’s football where I am playing every week. I have learnt a lot about myself and the game. I am grateful to be here and show Chelsea what I can do. It has kind of been my first real opportunity to do that.

My injury was like a downward spiral of events. Any time I felt I was back on my feet, something else would happen. That 12 weeks turned into 25 to 26 weeks of not playing. That whole time, I was ready to fight for my spot in my head, but the body just couldn’t.

It was hard not to pick up my phone when I was injured and see what people were saying about me. I got to a point where I didn’t feel I was a player anymore. After having a whole season being in the shadows, it is good to feel wanted again.

I have seen Cardiff fans asking me to stay. Even coming out of the stadium, I can hear them saying it. It is great.

But I signed for Chelsea, and I want to play for Chelsea, that is the end goal.

Brian Barry-Murphy has given me licence to express myself, but also helped the other side of my game. Our style of play and pressing is really aggressive. I have improved a lot on that since being here.

Getting promoted to the Championship is a dream scenario, but we all have the desire to win the title too. After everything they have done for me, going up as champions is the goal. Cardiff fans deserve it.”

I can't see him getting in the Chelsea squad next season and I'd imagine they would want to loan him out to a higher level
So if we are in the championship next season it would suit all parties if he came back on loan to us

Agree with that, hope we can get him on loan again if we're in the Championship.

But if Chelsea think he's progressed enough, they may decide to send him on loan to Strasbourg as they do with many players.

You'd hope that if they want to send him to a Championship club and we're there, then we would be their first choice. All reports in the media have been that City, Chelsea and Kellyman are very pleased with how the loan is going.

While we may not see him again after this season what it does is show Chelsea that we are a good place to send their players out on loan to & that we have the right manager to bring them on & get them ready for the next step in their career.

Great if we can get him for another year. Does he have any shot at playing at the top level? Really hard to say, he's head and shoulders in league one. My guess is he'll be one of the better players in the championship too

He has improved.

Of course he want's to fight for his spot at Chelsea.

He won't get near that team at the moment, hopefully we can get him for another season in the champ.

I can see Chelsea offloading him to a decent Championship side.

Agree, it's good for him to have ambition but won't be in their squad next season.

I expect they'll loan him to the Championship or Strasbourg.
