:bluebird: :bluebird: “TODAY BRIAN BARRY-MURPHY” UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS :bluebird: :bluebird:

Thursday 19th February 2026

BRIAN BARRY-MURPHY:

Yousef Salech saw the specialist last Monday who gave him some more detail to what extent he can and can't do things.

Salech has started light training this week.

"We anticipate both Osho and Davies will train this morning.

In the case of Osho, it should be pretty straightforward. Isaak less so, just going to see how he reacts to his first exposure to the team and take it from there.

Reflecting on City’s unbeaten run of 12 league fixtures, Barry-Murphy discussed the strength of competition within the First Team squad, both in training and on matchdays.

BBM:

“I think that we’re in really good form,” Brian continued. “Individually, the players are feeling the competitiveness of the squad to compete against each other to get on and play.

“We have to be focussed on today, to try to prepare as best as we can tomorrow, and then see where we are on Saturday.

“I think that the players are focussed firstly on getting in the squad, and then trying to play well and give ourselves a chance to win. At the moment we’re doing that, and we’ll have to try to get that to continue.”

BBM:

‘The players know they have to produce because the competition on the bench is so fierce. The Kellyman goal was really important for us.’

‘Callum Robinson wants to get more minutes and his assist was perfect, so all those feelings of how competitive it needs to be are there.’

He's back on the pitch today doing some running. We'll see how he progresses from there before re-entering training with the team. So step by step getting there, but still not keen to put any timescales because of what he's been through and what he's likely to experience when he returns to playing.

He's in really positive spirits. He was at the game on Saturday. Also on Tuesday but I sent him home before the end of the game because I didn't think it was beneficial for him to be at the stadium for the whole of Tuesday night.

If the running goes well today and tomorrow, into next week then things can progress pretty quickly. For now, it's taking things step by step and not putting any time estimates on when he can return

"Calum [Scanlon] has already shown this week how ready he is and wants to play.”

“It took me by surprise a little bit, because he hasn't had a lot of action. He's not played 90 minutes yet this season.”

“But he looks in a really good place. He's an elite player with an elite mentality. He wants to improve, and we feel as if we can help him enormously to improve."

“Plymouth are back in flying form and making great strides,” Brian began. "It’s been very clear how well they’ve started games and the type of football they’ve played has been very good, so we know that we’ll have to be at our best from the very start, otherwise we won’t be good enough.

“It will be a great test for us, and more often than not a great playing pitch, so I’m really looking forward to that.

“We’ll try our best to play at the intensity that we know we need to be at to be competitive, play our best game and try to win.”

‘It’s something that’s a real privilege to be part of at the minute. In recent weeks we’re starting to turn those 1-0 wins into three or four. Brian always said from the start of the season that after Christmas we would go up even more gears and that’s coming to fruition.’
