" We went through the gears "

Tue Feb 17, 2026 9:48 pm

Wasn't that happy with the first half tonight but we were always capable of stepping it up.

And we did in the second half.

Then we were able to drop it off again because we were never going to not win when it went 3-1.

The late goal adds gloss to the scoreline.

So another great day for us.

Last season I would have been expecting us to go on & lose at half time but this season is totally different & it helps with the blood pressure.

The scary thing is for other teams I honestly believe we have a few more gears we haven't seen yet

They pressed well for 60 mins, then the fatigue kicked in

I didnt think we were great tonight, which seems crazy to say after winning 4-1.

We were wasteful a lot of times in the final third, which is crazy to say also after scoring 4 goals.

We hit the 2 quick goals to make it 3-1 and from then on I thought we were sloppy in possession.

Great result, followed by other great results for us with Stockport and Bolton both dropping points.

2 tricky away games next. Hopefully 4 points from them, I dont think Plymouth will be straight forward at all.

Plymouth will be very tough. Would be delighted with a point.

I just think we knew the game was done at 3-1. We were able to drop off again. No way were Wimbledon going to score another two.

We have levels and there's no point getting into top gear when we don't need to be. That's something BBM has learned from Pep I think.

I agree, I think if it went 2-2 when they missed the chance after our goal we wouldve kicked on again.

I thought it was an insane decision for them to press us at all. Surely the plan for away teams coming here has to be low block and try to pinch something.

The only part of our game that I'm slightly concerned about is our defensive sloppiness on occasions. Less likely to get punished in this division but certainly something to be mindful of should we gain promotion. Going forward we are a joy to watch, playing a quality of football I don't think I've ever seen from a City team, and I've been watching them since 1964. Our interplay is a thing of beauty.

Last season I was frustrated that we didn't play an obvious pass so gave the ball away. This season I'm shocked that we found a pass that nobody saw. That says it all.

Agree about the defensive side, will have to improve that if we're in the Championship next season. Still think Osho is our best defender, he susses these things out because of his experience - no injury BBM said by the way, back Saturday.

I said this to my boy on the way home, the defence looked a lot less assured tonight without osho, we looked a bit nervous and made a few sloppy clearances, we were back to how we were in October November conceeding way to many shots, hopefully just a one off as over the last 2 months we've really started to limit teams to how many shots they get against us

Would like to see an osho Lawlor combo Saturday
