BLUEBIRDS GET RESPONSE ON ISAAK DAVIES INCIDENT

Sat Feb 14, 2026 6:34 pm

Cardiff City have been informed by the Football Association that no further action will be taken following the flashpoint incident involving Isaak Davies at Rotherham United.
WalesOnline

The decision comes after new footage of the off-the-ball clash emerged in the days following the Bluebirds’ 3-0 win at the New York Stadium, an incident which left Davies following concussion protocol and sparked fury among his team-mates.

Davies was struck in the head in the 86th minute of the contest in an off-the-ball collision with Rotherham midfielder Shaun McWilliams. The moment was not shown on the main broadcast feed, but WalesOnline understands the winger is alleged to have been caught by an elbow.

Cardiff players reacted instantly. Joel Colwill, Will Fish and Nathan Trott raced to their team-mate, with Colwill confronting McWilliams as tempers flared. Gabriel Osho also had to be restrained as tensions threatened to boil over.

Davies received close to three minutes of treatment before being withdrawn. Remarkably, he later returned to score in stoppage time, sealing an emphatic away victory. However, it subsequently emerged he suffered delayed concussion symptoms.

Speaking after learning of the FA’s decision, Bluebirds boss Brian Barry-Murphy revealed the governing body would not pursue the matter further.

Absolutely mental. He's run 20 yards to throw an elbow. The gap between officiating between this league and the championship is staggering

I very much doubt things will improve in the Championship should we get there.

Clear message sent by the EFL that for all the bollocks about player welfare being of major importance they really couldn't give a flying f**k about a deliberate elbow to the head causing a player to miss a number of games for his club.

Especially when that club is Cardiff City.

Is there a clip doing the rounds? Didn’t see it myself but if it’s as bad as being made out the FA are shocking not to follow it up.

Thanks Monty, and yep that’s shocking how nothing is done about that.

He’s made contact with the head intentionally, appreciate perhaps the officials didn’t see it but retrospectively how can the FA do nothing about it. He has one thing in his head

An absolute disgrace when players can get away with that these days especially when there is video evidence.

EFL probably hiding behind some unknown law about retrospective action.
