Who Remembers these days :

Thu Feb 12, 2026 8:57 pm

I was at Hereford but a different date, in fact from 1986 when we played our first ever game in Division 4 away at Hartlepool, over the next 14 yrs we spent 9 years in Div 4, awful on the pitch, but our away support was united and I never missed a game home or away.

We managed to beat Doncaster and lose to Hereford on the same day!

I went to both games - my head, chest and arms went to Donny and my legs, feet and arse went to Hereford!

I have a childhood memory of me being around 10 ish and reading the news of the world back page headlines on a Sunday morning saying “ CARLISLE CAPERS “ As they went top of division one at a early stage of the season
Funny how certain things still stick in your memory from childhood

The football was shit The crowds were shockingly low and the grounds were shit However still one of my fav times of following Cardiff . Must have been an age thing Like thinking that 80s music was the best because it was my teenage years

I think the standard of football is far better now.
The grounds have certainly improved.
However, the atmosphere amongst fans has for some reason deteriorated.
In addition, it has become much more expensive to attend.

Steve,

Yes quality of football is way better but the closeness with the players and club has gone the opposite way.

Atmosphere crap and way more expensive now.
