Brian Barry-Murphy says Dylan Lawlor is back in contention for Cardiff City ahead of the visit of Luton Town on Saturday.
The centre-back has been out for the best part of a month with a medial ligament injury, but is now in contention to face the Hatters at Cardiff City Stadium.
"
He's back in full training. He'll be available," Barry-Murphy said when asked about Wales international Lawlor, adding that he has had to be cautious about easing the youngster back into the first team fold.
"
He loves the game, he's desperate to train every single day. With that I think in recent weeks/months, there's been certain games where he's saying he's fit, he's ready but he's been carrying niggles and certain things that would keep him out of games normally.
"He tweaked his medial ligament in the game a couple of weeks ago and he's had to take a step back but, you know, he's desperate to get back fit and this week he's been flying and training.
"So I just think it's all part of, you know, his journey into adapting to this level and becoming more robust, but he's doing it.
"I don't worry about him any day because of how much he loves the game and how much he trains.
"He's a real leader within our dressing room and has a really refreshing mentality to attack every single game and just go for it.
"I think I'm overly cautious in terms of what I ask him before games. If I ask Calum Chambers how he's feeling and he has a certain issue, then he'll tell me straight away.
"I think Dylan's inexperience means that he might not be feeling 100 per cent, but he'll tell you 'I'm flying, I'm ready', and before you know it, he's not quite 100 per cent.
"He just wants to play every single game and train every single day and those are qualities I would never want to take away from but it just means I have to guard myself against taking him at face value when he says he's 100 per cent fit."
