BBM:
"I think the refereeing performances this season are getting gradually worse. I think it's been really poor.
Ryan Wintle makes contact and there's not much cover but he couldn't wait to send him off.
Isaak Davies got a sickening blow to the head and it wasn't seen.
We send detailed reports to the referees every week about what's happening. The response last week was nothing. It was just ignored.
Our staff put a lot of effort in to send in those reports but from now on there's no point.
We're the only Welsh team in this league. At some point our players need to be protected but they're not being protected.
Like I say there's concern for Isaak Davies' wellbeing because he's been elbowed off the ball and nothing has happened.
The response we always get is just agreeing with what's happened and is vanilla in nature. My staff have put a lot of work in to be honest and report these things with clarity but if the response is always the same then we're not going to waste our time."

Interesting that he’s had the balls to call out the Welsh angle, I think it takes someone from UK/Ireland who’s not English to notice it.
Wonder if he’s going to get in trouble for what it’s implying though.

Pretty sure he'll get charged for these comments, possibly a touchline ban for a game.

He's saying it as it is and you can't argue with any of it. The refereeing has been shocking all season and I'm sure most of us have felt there is an anti Welsh agenda with officials for many years. Mark Azlewood said if we had one particular ref from Bristol I think, we wouldn't win.

We have had nearly the whole cardiff team booked the last 3 games.

Unfortunately I think you're right and it's an absolute disgrace.
Well done to the manager for saying it like it is.
Very revealing to hear the attitude of the EFL which seems to be to sweep it under the carpet and ignore genuine concerns being raised.
This is not sour grapes from some mid table or relegation threatened manager who's feeling hard done by. This is the manager of what is currently the best team in the division drawing the attention of the relevant authorities to the appalling standard of refereeing at this level.
Players are being placed at risk by the sheer incompetence of the officiating in this division and BBM is spot on in calling it out.
Going to cost him because these clowns will never admit their own incompetence.

I don't like the Welsh angle, i don't think that even enters their mind.
I think most of these refs are kick and rush level and have no idea what's happening off the ball with the pushes, pulls and grabs.
I love the understated arrogance of humble BBM, but there are games when we look like we are from a different planet, and these refs are just levels behind and somehow want to not bow to the big team playing a crazy brand of football.
They are just proving why they are in L1, L2 or the national league.

I lean more toward incompetence, we never had this in the championship.

He’s looking out for his players and after what happened with Salech he’s gone on the attack, he’s already told them things need to change.
Best manager we’ve had in a long time

It seems that most of the refs we've seen this year are below a decent standard. The problem is, who do you replace them with?
Sun Feb 08, 2026 12:02 pm
This is the standard for div 1&2..only a few of these younger refs will progress. I don't think there's an agenda against us, and we don't help ourselves with silly things like kicking the ball away and clattering an opponent when we should hold off (fish v Rotherham).
