Off topic: Wales rugby?

How low has Welsh rugby sunk?

I'm not a big fan anyway but I still want us to do well. This current 'team' (and I use the term loosely because they are pretty clueless) are probably the worst I've seen in over 50 years of watching welsh rugby and don't look like improving any time soon.

Dewi Lake is as thick as :porc: and should never be captain. That said, there's NO leadership in the side.

On the (sort of) funny side the BBC taffia will be having a meltdown.

Good job we have a decent football team

And of course, the mighty :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: are doing great!

I’m not an ‘egg’ fan, but I want them to do well! It’s good for Wales as a nation and it’s good for Welsh sport!

Your comment about captain Dewi Lake are borne out of an ill-conceived personal opinion!

I know Dewi and I know his family (dad Dai in particular) very well and I can tell you categorically he is a very grounded guy with no airs and graces. He talks well when it’s about Welsh rugby and plays his heart out for his country!

How can he be that bad when he’s just been signed by Gloucester; one of the biggest and best sides in rugby; and a team who have freedom of choice on who they employ?

Wales are just going through a rebuild phase after neglecting ‘future generations’ under the successful but ‘win now’ leadership of Warren Gatland. When they all retired ‘en mass’, Wales had no experience to come in and perform at a high level

The WRU are currently on a downer too, but they and the team will be back, and they have a trusted (by the platters) coach who will guide them to improvement

The game in Wales has always been ’cyclical’, and this is another! :ayatollah:

Yeah you're probably right about the personal opinion (borne out of frustration of watching the lineouts!) and the neglect of the regions when we were winning internationally.
Dewi does need to learn to throw :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Football is the main reason. We are a small nation with a limited number of top tier athletes.

The success of the national team coupled with the financial incentive means if your a promising youngster with a choice in which sport to pursue football is the easy winner. Euro 2016 also had a massive impact were are all those kids from 10 years ago? It doesn't look like any of them are coming through into the rugby team

Wales used to be a proud rugby nation, with endless top quality players and many more victories than defeats.
These days, Welsh rugby from top to bottom has become an embarrassment to our nation.

Until recently, the enthusiasm of the Welsh rugby fans has been second to none.
However, with the combination of hefty ticket prices and a poor quality team, resulting in regular heavy defeats, it's simply a matter of time before we see a big increase in empty seats in the Principality Stadium on match days.

From what I understand, tickets for match against France, next Sunday are selling slower than in previous years.
Anyone attending can probably expect a French victory by a margin of 50 points.
To expect a Welsh victory is delusional!

Rugby worldwide is on its arse. The IRB rules changes make it unfathomable for passing fans. The Ref and TMO are now the stars. The game of running into grass turned into big men running into big men, where you have no idea where the ball is, and now it's turned into a kicking and high-ball festival.

I watched the first half of the city, then met my mates for a few beers. The game was shocking on many levels. I don't particularly like rugby of the last four or five years; it can't work out what it is or what its audience wants.

Unless the WRU muster the courage to ditch all four regions and create their own East and West franchise, the game in Wales is going bust within 5 years

I just turned the TV on, and the Jacks are playing in front of crowds the Ospreys and Scarlets combined could only dream of.And its not great.
Our national game, my arse!
Our national sport is finding an excuse to go on an all-dayer.
