A year ago today.

We lost 7-0 to Leeds. Let’s not forget what a disgrace we were last season. To be where we are now is nothing short of a miracle.

A disgrace of a manager. Omar Riza for me was our worst manager of all time. Last year's squad was good enough to stay up. Here's a question If BBM had been given the job last January when we lost to Leeds would we have stayed up?

Agree on Riza, shouldn't even be classed as a manager.

As for BBM keeping us up, hard to say, would he have tried playing the football we play now with the players we had then or would he have adapted.

Exactly how I see it and why I laugh at some of the ridiculous posts I read when we’ve only drawn a game away from home!

I think he'd have struggled you need months to get the players working in a system like BBMs. We needed a Warnock type to stay up, but I fear we'd be in the same boat this year if that had happened. We are now in a much better position going into next season (presuming we finish the job this year)

Riza was hopelessly out of his depth but not the worst manager by a long shot Tan hardly let him loose with the checkbook

100% agree on if BBM had of been given the job last January. He needed the entire summer to get the players playing the way he wants. He wouldn’t have done that last year

I think the players would have been capable of BBM ball. They are afterall, professional footballers. We lacked (still do?) raw pace but they could have played it. Many of those players are still here.

However I completely agree with the sentiment that BBM needs time to get those ideas over. Also he woulld never have been appointed in the summer if we were still in the championship. I also think if he WAS appointed he wouldnt be seen as a positive appointment off the back of an inexperienced failure preceding him.

Life has a way of working itself out and I think we are where we needed to be. If we are lucky enough to go back up he will have had 12 months to instil his philosophies on the first team and the academy sides. Its easier to parachute a few players in to an established squad playing with an identity than rebuilding from the ground.
