BURTON 2 CARDIFF CITY 2

“We always want to win and I felt that once we got in front that we would win," we didn’t score enough goals for that to happen.”

“I'm very pleased with the response to what by our standards was a below par first half. The players implemented from the first minute of the second half what I wanted at half-time. It’s disappointing to concede from a free-kick like we did but that can happen.”

“They’re a very direct team and create good momentum in their home stadium with direct play, long throws and free-kicks. We were aware of that threat but we felt as if the best way to defend our goal would be to attack all through the game.

"It wasn’t as evident in the first half as we would have wanted but in the second half it was. We didn’t score enough goals or create enough chances today for how we want to play."

Midfielder Alex Robertson netted a brace for City, adding to his goal on Boxing Day against Exeter City to take his tally up to three for the campaign.

Brian continued:

BBM:

“We expect players like Alex, David Turnbull, Joel Colwill and Omari Kellyman to arrive in the box and show their quality.

"Alex did that well and we were looking for those players to really take a grip of the game in that second half and reward our dominance with goals.”

"I’m very pleased for Alex and pleased with his contribution."

Next up for the Bluebirds is an away clash with Rotherham United next Saturday.

“Our focus is just on trying to win the next game," the City boss added. "We tried to win today. The intention is to attack for every part of the game.

"We’ll focus now is on trying to produce a performance that gives us the best chance of winning the game."

Willock is not one of out best players. All our wingers are average at best. I would say tanner should have gone before Willock yesterday.

Playing in League One with crap Ref's and linesmen that cant read the game, we have got to be more physical and dirty, yesterday they got away with everything and a penalty that should have been given,we are not shooting enough outside the box in this league, we have the ability to score more goals if we did that.

I appreciate he rotates the squad, but it backfired badly on Saturday. We played the best this season against Barnsley and then changed the dynamics by dropping Coliwell and Bagan, putting Kellyman in midfield and Robinson in attack. These changes weakened the team. Hopefully BBM will realise you cannot keep everyone happy, Robinson at the moment is a good substitute nothing more and Kpakio is no full back.
