For the amount of times we enter opposition penalty areas you would naturally expect to see us near the top:

It's a shame the penalty area isn't in midfield, as we'd be top of the list. We strangle the ball, but for all the possession, we rarely get behind defences in the box.

I can think of at least another 3 stone wall penalties we haven’t been given. That's not including the pulling ones that the refs never give. The one yesterday was an absolute joke :banghead: Miles away from the ball made contact with NG. I don't see how there is anyway the refs doesn't give that.

Just the last few games can think Bradford 1st half, Barnsley, hand ball and yesterday NG.

It’s so bad that I can’t even remember the one we’ve been given

When Salech was about to tap in and we were one nil up anyway. Its ridiculous that a side who have the most points in English football have had the least number of penalties. You would expect it to be the other way round.

Is it just the refs we've had are reluctant to give penalties? For sure we should have had quite a few but I think we've got away with a couple too

I would guess it’s more to do with the low number of times we are in their box. Our high possession stars are great outside the penalty area but we don’t seem to create too many penalty opportunities.

I would agree that we’ve got away with a couple of close ones, but the three that really stand out are Colwill away at Port Vale, Kpakio when he was chopped down in the box at home, and yesterday’s incident.

All three were clear-cut sliding challenges away from the ball. Two of those decisions alone have cost us four points. It’s obvious that officials have been told to “let things go,” but this has had a detrimental effect on clear, obvious decisions that are being seen but not given. Typical EFL let's take something that is average and make it 10 times worse.

The standard of officiating this season has been worse than I can ever remember and apart from the odd game, you leave scratching your head at the standards.

Sorry, the stats would argue differently:

Touches in Opposition Box: Cardiff City has registered 748 touches in the opposition box, ranking 2nd in the league.

I think some of our fans are so impressed with the amount of possession we have outside the box they quite understandably forget how many times we get into the penalty area, as that is a lesser percentage of course. I am one of the many who shouts "shoot!" on many occasions when we choose not to - that also adds to this perception.

Championship club Oxford haven’t had one in over 76 games.
