WILL MURPHY STAY OR LEAVE CARDIFF CITY

Tue Jan 27, 2026 2:52 pm

If we fail in promotion for whatever reason will murphy stays or go,?
i would say if we fail he will stay but if he has a really good offer I think he will be gone especially if he knows he will not backed.
More reason imo to get promoted at all costs this season,
we will not get this chance again, and could stay in the dauldroms for years

I believe if We Win promotion and Tan some how stays on ( I don’t expect him to) BBM will leave as he won’t be properly backed.

That would be a very sad outcome after all the work to get promoted, but I agree ,if tan will not invest heavily after promotion I also can see him leaving, doing stuff on a shoestring budget cannot be a good recipe for success.

I'm just praying promotion will mean tan gets close to the valuation he wants for the club and finally disappears for good taking his clowns with him as I honestly believe we will never fulfill our full potential as long as he is owner

Don't see him going anywhere before the end of the season and that's what matters right now.

Always worry about a successful manager leaving in the summer because that's the nature of any football club - best players and managers move on to better opportunities. With respect, whether he's backed or not is largely irrelevant. If a better opportunity came up in the summer, he'd probably go whether he's backed by our owner or not.

Any club would also have to be able to pay the compensation too as he still has two years on his contract.

But I think it would have to be a very good opportunity because he's building something with us. He said recent when he was linked with other jobs - "I love Cardiff."

So I would say whether he's backed or not is not the point, it's what other opportunities he has.

BBM is not stupid, we WILL get promoted, so it’s during the summer that will be key.

I think he will pitch Tan for a double promotion and Tan would need to back him if that’s what Tan wants.
Tan will see the glory in that and go for it as BBM will be talking from strength, so i think Tan may actually back BBM once promoted.

Don’t get me wrong its not what I want (Tan to stay) but I think I’d rather have BBM stay with backing rather than another new manager with no backing - its a no brainer for Tan really, because even if we dont get a double bounce the value of the squad and therefore club will increase, so its a win win for Tan. Sell up after promotion to the championship or invest say £50m and add that to his asking price if we dont get promoted but are obvious candidates for another big investor.

Also I think once we get promoted, BBM would only go if it was a Premier League offer and not a championship one, why start again at a championship club when he has already got what he needs in City at that point.

If it’s a big club coming down it would still need a rebuilding exercise squad wise purely due to financial implications.

I think he’ll stay regardless.

My opinion and guess is that he’ll only move if a big offer from a premier club comes in which I don’t think will happen.

I think it depends on how we are next season if we are in the championship

If we get off to a good start and we are in the top 6 some of the lower prem clubs might want to look at him as a possibility

Usually from November clubs start panicking if they are near the bottom

that might be when offers start coming in

He is not a fixer; he is a system guy. We are better after 25 games than when he arrived.

Next season 75% of the squad will be drilled into his system. I don't think he'll be going anywhere.

I think we should get promotion. And if we do I think he’ll stay as he obviously works well with developing players and he had what has now been seen to be the perfect scenario ;for him) to walk into. With the number of decent academy/young players here.
He’s got a good project to work with here-young squad, good stadium, good training facilities.
I personally think he’d only go in the summer if he had another young squad to take on.
But it’s a funny old game Saint. Who knows?

I see similarities' between us now and Sunderland 2 seasons ago. They came to us towards the end of the season, very young team, quick passing and pressing, and beat us 2 nil. Following year, play offs and promotion.
Or am I dreaming

I kept saying that season, that’s the way to go.

But We need Tan and Dalman gone and New Owners ‘, then we have a future :bluebird: :bluebird:

With you in this! I have no idea what’s going on or being said behind the scenes, but BBM has been given an opportunity to ‘give it a go’ with a talented, mainly young, group of players; and so far he’s succeeding!

According to some, he could be lying of course, but I get the impression from his own words, that he is enjoying the experience, enjoying the challenge, enjoying the success, and enjoying the city itself (and why wouldn’t he?)

Let’s not forget he was given this opportunity ‘out of the blue’ after a relatively unsuccessful spell in charge of another club, so he’d have to think very hard about what/where he might be tempted to go next

A Premier League team (already successful with youngsters) Sunderland apart, is not really an option, and there are few in the Championship who already have the basis of the type of squad he is suited to, and can potentially get the best out of

Clearly, all this constant, almost daily speculation, is largely a reflection of his success (to date) and should be taken as a compliment and nothing else right now! :ayatollah:

Many of you are Missing my point :

If BBM knows he will be Fully Backed by whoever Owns Us then of course u expect him to Stay.

But he won’t ruin his name if he is not guaranteed to be backed.

And what do you think he will do if their is No backing with money?

Some may call me a sad, naive Romantic but I think it is just possible that BBM has committed himself as a professional to Cardiff City. So I don't expect him to leave. Our Bran is principled - so even if he were offered Man City I think he would hesitate, not simply on moral grounds but because he knows he is not ready.

As much as he may love cardiff which i don' t doubt for a minute on a crest of a wave withe the job happy fans loving thr city itself but it would be another thing to play in the championship without funds not saying he won' t be backed ,but it would be demoralising to try and survive without backing ,which would break the most loyal .

None of us really know but I think he’ll be backed.

To what extent I’ve no idea but I know that if we get promotion this season then he’ll need a few players without doubt.

Annis,

My opinion is whether he's backed or not is irrelevant to his future.

He'll only go if a better opportunity comes up and that will happen whether he's backed or not.

Obviously I hope he is backed in the summer but I don't think it will decide his future.

Exactly what I said and it’s my opinion also.

Not at all.

I’ve watched a lot of championship this year and there’s nothing to be scared of there.

I knew we would batter Wrexham and we did.

Relegation will end up being the best thing that happened to us. We were circling the drain in the championship.

Spot On and I also see the Sunderland example - Dreams can come true but BBM + these players needs to be part of this .

Of course he will. There’s no loyalty in football. We would want BBM gone in minutes if we had four losses on the trot.

There's no point worrying about him leaving, just enjoy having a top manager whilst we have him.

If a team comes in and offers to double his wages and have a better chance of reaching the prem than us, he will be gone.

This is a job, he isn't doing it for the love of Cardiff.
