Leicester Sack Manager - are we worried about BBM?

Sun Jan 25, 2026 6:06 pm

Leicester have sacked their manager, but should we be worried about losing BBM. Might be a long shot for them, but is that squad for BBM? And if not backed, with incomings this week, would he think about it.

Time for the 3 amigos to come out and back him?

No fear of losing him to the likes of Leicester.

I think he's playing a waiting game to see what's available closer to deadline day, let's not forget how far down the pyramid we are now & that we can't just say "yeah let's have insert name" and expect them to appear like they were a can of baked beans you pick up at Tesco. Lots of things have to fall into place first & they also have to be willing to come here, we may be top of the league but it's still league1/div3.

Not worried about Leicester it's a poison chalice if you look at their league position, a minor miracle needed to make the playoffs, which is what the fans would expect. The summer is a different story but I think BBM will want to win league one in style first

There will be a link with BBM and Leicester and interest from other clubs - Let's hope he sees the job out this season with us .

He's got ties with Leicester. You'd be naiive to think they wont have him on a shortlist.

I think they are exactly the type of club we need to worry about, arguably the biggest club outside the top 4 if we are measuring success in the last decade with a premier league and FA Cup win to their name. Leicester is a big sporting city. I am slightly worried about this one, he has big connections with the club.

Always concerned about losing the only manager who has been capable of sorting us out.

Nosing on the Leicester forum they reckon they don't have a pot to piss in so wouldn't be able to afford the compo needed to get bbm

Why would he go there?
They still have a potential points deduction hanging over them for this season so could quite possibly be swapping places with them next season.

Maybe he might feel he has some connection with them. However not the club they were a couple of seasons ago so hopefully he won't have his head turned if an approach came in for him

Don't see him going anywhere until the end of the season at least.

In the summer I will worry though.

I can't see him leaving unless Tan accepts a massive offer, and let's face it, not many clubs do that anymore. Leicester aint going up this season, will lose a lot of high earners in the summer, and a lot of their better players are loans.

They only get one parachute payment i guess (and it is a guess), as they were only in the Premier League for one season last time. So they will be in a massive transformation period. Will they be in that much better position than us if we do get promoted?

Andy King is the front runner in Oddschecker’s list of who to become the next permanent Leicester manager. From our 20 men potential list yesterday, we are not surprised to see current Lincoln City manager Michael Skubala on the way up.

Skubala (43) is, as we speak, equal in odds to former Southampton boss, Ralph Hasenhuttl. He was last in management at Wolsburg, leaving the club on 4 May 2025, after a 4–0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund. He lasted almost a year with The Wölfe.

Another name coming up this afternoon is former AZ Alkmaar boss, Maarten Martens. He is not on the oddschecker list, but seen mentioned in a recent The72 article. 41-year-old Martens oversaw 54 wins in 103 games and managed a points per game rate of 1.79. His side usually operated in a 4-3-3 setup focused on quick transitions in attack.

We have recently seen the names of Nigel Pearson, Gary Rowett and Russell Martin as names to be considered. That would something of a downgrade from Marti Cifuentes. Pearson (62) has been out of management since leaving Bristol City in 2023. His health conditions are not at the moment what you would believe was ideal for people to work in football management. Why his name turns up everytime Leicester are out hunting for a new manager is a major riddle. Certainly hope he will not return, that would be a major disappointment.
Russell Martin is obsessed with possession. He is far from pragmatic and his time at Rangers was a total waste, not really able to adjust to players and the league you are playing in. He could have success at Leicester, but with the type of squad Leicester have at the minute, far from convinced about him coming in.

Gary Rowett is a person who could stable the ship, but would not consider the former Leicester player as a long term target. Andy King is the interim and if he fails totally it could be a potential chance for Gary Rowett to step in, but long term, doubting he has the mindset to bring Leicester a lot of success.
