Flat crowd.

Sat Jan 24, 2026 8:30 pm

Another game where I feel we (including myself in that) let the players down a bit with the lack of support.

Why are we so flat? Is it because we expect a win? I don’t know what the answer is.

Before anyone says “move the stands” it’s never happening and we can create an atmosphere with the stands as they are.

I walked into the Canton concourse at about 11.45am and it felt flat. Never got much better.

We can blame the early kick off and the January blues as much as we want but people would be up for it if it was Man Utd in town.

I was surprised how flat it was after last week's result.

Me too, no atmosphere, not even when we were pushing for a winner and winning corners. Strange

The proverbial stuffing has been knocked out of this club in recent years, so it was understandable

But this season, BBM and his players have given us a season to remember, so it shouldn’t take an opposition thug to get us into a frenzy in which to get behind our team!

They, the team, deserve so much more but don’t (often) get it!

Unless we're creating chance after chance we' probably react - or not - the same as the home crowd at the Etihad & Man City. Loads of possession with very little threat. Paradoxically, the Stockport forum was commenting on how vociferous and one-eyed our fans were yesterday..

Perhaps it's because we are not the underdogs and top of the division all these fans that come to our stadium ,it's there cup final ,I did not attend the chelsea game but we were the underdogs in that game and the fans attitude is completely different when been the underdog, so imo that's the reason why.
I think we expect to win.

It wasn't flat where I was - block 114 in the Ninian.

I get tired of these comments about our home support, crowd etc - weather was atrocious, lunchtime kick off, we struggled to make any clear chances, but despite all of that the ref made sure our block were NEVER flat!!

There’s a big difference between creating an atmosphere and getting angry at a ref. I didn’t hear the Ninian stand all game and I’m sure you didn’t hear the Canton either.

It appears to be the general situation at many modern day grounds.
Totally different from years ago when most fans were groups of young lads who were much more vocal.
Back then, the four or five thousand crowd would make more noise than the near twenty thousand in the stadium these days.

The volume generally is only cranked up all around the stadium when we go two or three up which is a shame.

I agree 5 to 7 thousand at ninian park against Bristol city, wolves and the place was bouncing. I've said it all season we've been mute at home and not much better away. People have disagreed with me when I said the football is not exciting but I stand by it. It's frustrating, reluctant to shoot and cross the ball. It's modern day football and I won't be renewing next season. I'll do some away games to grounds I haven't been to. Before some say I'm a plastic I've watched city since the Bennett brothers and Dibble days.

Modern football is boring to watch
I used to watch a lot of premiere games back in the day now I don't even watch match of the day

I seen a video on YouTube and some English boy was bigging us up and saying we are the most exciting team he's ever seen play in league one and he's loved watching us play this season
So I think what the modern day football fan likes is completely different to what I grew up watching because I always loved direct football with man for man duels on the pitch and I think a lot of the older generations feel the same

Canton got sing a song for Sala going and literally died out as quick as it started, the injury to Sala took the wind out of the crowd, not just the players.

Paul Howard single-handedly destroyed the atmosphere, worst ref to pull on the shirt and I’ve seen some dodgy ones in the Bridgend U15’s league lol.

The canton stand was quite loud yesterday as were the away fans. But as discussed before ccs is really not a ground for lower league football.the oppossing fans are so far apart its like they are in different stadiums.

The canton stand was not loud yesterday apart from having a go at the ref and responding to sheep shaggers.

Yep it was so flat again in the canton , it feels like everyone has smoked that spice or some herb , it’s just dead quiet , really strange

Swap the family end with the Canton, problem solved.

We can see that but Nash won’t, he’s happy segregating with a block and a half either side to kill the atmosphere
