LAST WEEK OF WINDOW

Sat Jan 24, 2026 7:41 pm

I think we have needed cover for salec or an alternative, as robinsons legs have sadly gone he was out of the game today not upto speed, had 1 clear shot and fluffed it.
The young united lad biacheri has gone to rotherham .
Of course we are top but we must cover a few players, a striker left back and a speedy winger.

Re: LAST WEEK OF WINDOW .

Sat Jan 24, 2026 8:00 pm

We need a couple in to freshen up the squad looked a few tired bodies out there today, we can't risk going in to the final stretch without back up to Salech and bagan,

come on tan you tight fucker get the check book out as if we fail to go up whilst riding this wave of good feeling around the club we could be in for another rough few years

Re: LAST WEEK OF WINDOW .

Sat Jan 24, 2026 8:46 pm

Definitely need a LB.

Always said a winger/striker, even more so after the scare today.

Anything else is a bonus.

Re: LAST WEEK OF WINDOW .

Sat Jan 24, 2026 8:55 pm

I would like to see 3 quality players added and we will Def go up

Re: LAST WEEK OF WINDOW .

Sat Jan 24, 2026 9:36 pm

It will be the same old shit from the club as the last few windows, it's last day or so signings or if anyone at all comes in. Then It will take the player or players 4 weeks to get up to speed to play 90 minutes meanwhile 3 or 4 game have passed us. Really don't know why we do that surely a few more weeks wages won't make a difference but it's the same crap every window we do this. Most of us know we need a left back, striker for sure and maybe another.

It's fair what you're saying but my personal opinion is that this manager will sign who he wants, or say he'll go with what he has.

Don't see him taking anyone he doesn't want.

That's sort of proven by him moving out Ralls, Rinomhota, Etete etc as soon as he could.

Hope we sign a LB and a striker.

Re: LAST WEEK OF WINDOW .

Only a couple of weeks ago, the club entered what was claimed by some to be a deliberate embargo and, according to the same people, were intending to use it as an excuse not to sign anyone in this window

I’m (genuinely) not having a go at anyone; I just want to point out that nothing is ever as it appears at our club, and if we do sign a couple or more players towards the end of the window, it should be seen as a positive so far as team business goes

BBM had his targets lined up well before the window started, so the rest is/was up to the Board. That in itself will speak volumes over their week or so

We must also keep in mind that BBM has already stated how difficult it is to bring in the quality of player(s) he wants because of the situations of the clubs needing to balance their own squads first before agreeing to late exits; so he fully expects any inward movement(s) to occur late in the window

Well said Chris.

What will happen, will happen.

Personally I hate the January window and wish it didn't exist. I think the summer window should shut before the season starts and then that's it.

But I guess it helps the income of Sky Sports to have this window.

I remain confident we can win this league with this squad and, crucially, this manager.

Although I'm not saying I wouldn't like additions - I would!

We will all have to wait but I personally don' t want excuses for not covering positions that we need covering someone is going to have to take responsibility if nobody comes in by dead line day .
The one think i liked about our old manager bulut was ge said it as it was no smoke or mirrors he said it as it was and layed it at Tan and the board doors he said what he wanted and it was up to the board,

but forget the rest about bulut.

So what has BBM said/done that makes you believe he’s not being up front or honest? :?

My personal feeling is that he’s been a breath of fresh air with his understated comments and determination that this squad is good enough and together enough to do the job with additions only coming in IF he feels they complement and/or are better than what we have

Hopefully ‘excuses’ won’t be necessary, but given we were told on this Forum that there would be ‘no signings’ this window, we’ve already exceeded that non-quota with the goalkeeper, and indications are we will add more, so maybe time to just let it all play out? :ayatollah:

You say time to let it all play out, if you read what I said, the first words are "we will have to wait" and that's what i am doing apart from adding my personally opinions which will differ from others.

Re: LAST WEEK OF WINDOW

I have the impression that BBM is a fussy bugger. He is very much about the sanctity of the sqaud, so I can't see us padding it out for the sake of it.

The stage of the season we are in can't be too much of a gamble. Kellyman glides around the field with the ball like an Olympic ice skater, but has little end product, as he has barely started 5 mens games yet, he is on a steep learning curve. We need someone at least on their second loan, or a championship senior lad who is not getting game time.

I'd rather we buy and live in hope.

I don't believe he's being back for one minute to what he wants Ned in truth and he's got a list of players he would of liked here when the window opened to hit the ground running and push on but again it's only my opinion that they are not backing him and we will get one maybe two come in at the end of the week. If we have more injuries and illnesses it will cost us I'm sure.

BBM will say he's happy either way even if he's not got what he wants originally that's just what they have to say to keep the peace. Unlike the crystal palace manager who said how it is because he's on the way out anyway  :bluescarf:

That was in your second comment, not your first, and you haven’t answered the question I asked

I’m not trying to catch you out, I’m just curious to know your reasoning for suggesting it’s all ‘smoke and mirrors’ from BBM?

I fully appreciate we have different perspectives, but is it really so hard to believe BBM is not speaking honestly?

He made similar statements (re compact squad, personalities, hard work, a ‘system’ they must all fit into, not many incomings required, etc.) when he arrived, and so far he’s done what he said he would and over achieved in the eyes of most who witnessed last season and beyond

For all Bulut’s ‘public honesty’, he wasn’t a very good coach, he lost the changing room, and started the slide towards League One!

BBM is (thankfully) repairing the damage, taking us back in the opposite direction, so I for one, will let him do his job and long may it continue! :ayatollah:

Because he’s so anti Tan it clouds everything.

Re: LAST WEEK OF WINDOW

There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that there is no money.

Do any of you genuinely believe that if BBM, who probably has doubled or trebled the asset value of the sqaud in 6 months, phones Tan and says I need £3 million for this 22-year-old kid who I think may be a superstar, Tan doesn't give iit to him?

Tan is about ego; he'll want to be proved right on BBM and forget all these numerous mistakes.

I think we are at the bottom of European footballs heirachy and the bigger clubs still haven't made their final recruitment decisions, we are waiting for the cogs to turn.

My priority along with a left back would now be an experienced centre forward, possibly on loan, for the rest of this season.
Okay, Salech may be back in a month or so, but an older head may be the answer to support the current crop of lads.

It's all about opinions of course but I genuinely believe that if BBM asked Tan for £3m for anybody the only thing he'd hear from Tan would be the Malaysian version of "F*ck Off"

Tan may have been about ego when he was poncing about like a Bond villain at Anfield when we were in the Premier League but he can't even be bothered to show his face when we're top of the league.

For Vincent it's no longer about ego - it's all about the money and him spending as little as he possibly can.

Chris
as I said i am not answerable to you, so when ask "you have not answered my question",
I will decide wether I do so or don't, usually i try not to reply to you as you drag it out ,
i gave my opinion and it's take it or leave it as far as I am concerned , I don' t have to explain myself it can be taken as anyone sees fit ,
I have plenty of respect for our manager but he has not come out and said, apart from a left back what he needs perhaps that's all he wants, but I have not heard anything about any other position wether he does or does not want a winger a striker, it's all,
if players become available and that's about as much as I have heard or read into ,
and the talking to Vincent he says he has between themselves, I have not gleaned a thing from what the position is towards bringing in any new recruits .
Perhaps smoke and mirrors was the wrong wording ,perhaps vague ,
Anyway that's the last I am saying on this topic as have just finished my break back on with the wallpapering.

Tan is doing the right thing by not showing his face nobody wants to see him there. Too much water under the bridge, the only thing he can do is sell and he's not going to so he should stay away.

We don't need major recruitment we need a striker and left back on loan and that won't be sorted until the last couple of days as your always waiting on the top clubs to make their moves. We already have the best squad in league one by some distance. Judge the window after it closes and we'll see what moves are made over the summer

My opinion is that our manager is being 100% honest and upfront with regards to bringing players in.

I believe he’ll be backed by the board but he also won’t bring in just anyone and rightly so. I trust him.

We’d all like a couple of new players but for me I’m not too bothered if we don’t.

If bbm he had his way he would be having qaulity players in at start of January , he isn’t going to say there’s no money. Just my opinion.
We’ve done so well so far and I think a lot of us are worried for any more injuries could hit us hard , especially the way this club has had alot of bad luck over the years .
I’ve so much faith in bbm and I also think he can’t say certain things to the media :bluebird: :bluebird:

I think he's playing a waiting game to see what's available closer to deadline day, let's not forget how far down the pyramid we are now & that we can't just say "yeah let's have insert name" and expect them to appear like they were a can of baked beans you pick up at Tesco. Lots of things have to fall into place first & they also have to be willing to come here, we may be top of the league but it's still league1/div3.

Re: LAST WEEK OF WINDOW

Everyone is talking about bringing a LB to cover Bagan.

So what if we do? You either buy someone better and bomb out a player who you’ve relied on all season and mess the squad harmony up.

Or you bring in a young LB on loan from a PL club and have to play him as part of the agreement instead of Bagan

There’s obviously other options but it ain’t easy
