Yousef Salech taken to hospital as Cardiff City boss slams lack of protectionYousef Salech was sent to hospital for precautionary scans after being taken off on a stretcher during Cardiff City’s 1-1 draw with Stockport County.
Bluebirds boss Brian Barry-Murphy launched a strong defence of his striker after the match and criticised what he described as the “
ridiculous” directives officials have been told to abide by this season.
Salech suffered a heavy blow to the head in an aerial collision with Brad Hills midway through the first half at the Cardiff City Stadium. Referee Paul Howard did not deem the incident a foul, a decision which infuriated home supporters, who again felt the club’s top scorer had been left unprotected.
The striker received lengthy treatment on the pitch before being applauded off by all four stands and taken straight to hospital. Barry-Murphy confirmed afterwards that Salech was undergoing scans on his neck as a precaution.
BBM:
“
Yousef is in hospital at the moment having a precautionary scan on his neck,” Barry-Murphy said. “We’re just awaiting the results of that.
“It definitely wasn’t nice viewing, but we’re very hopeful. The care he received straight away was excellent.”

The fact it says precautionary scan and I also heard bbm say he's awake talking gives me hope it's not as bad as first feared

I wish Yousef Salech nothing but best wishes in the hope it’s not too serious!
The infield medical care looked first class and no chances were taken!

“It definitely wasn’t nice viewing, but we’re very hopeful. The care he received straight away was excellent.
“It’s very difficult when you have such a serious injury to someone who’s so close to the group.
“All the players are very close, so to refocus on the game is not easy. Considering those circumstances, I was over the moon. I was very proud of the way they grew into the game and coped without Yousef.
“It’s been coming, to be honest. For months now, he hasn’t been protected by referees. We analyse games heavily and if you’re an opposing manager, you see what you can and can’t get away with against a player with his profile.
“He’s clearly been fouled and not got any free-kicks. There’s a lot of talk about thresholds and the level of contact can be prolonged in more than previous years. It's got ridiculous.
"The level of challenges he’s facing are clear fouls and they’re not being punished. This isn’t just about this game — it’s been building for a long time. This is the kind of natural result of games where he has not been protected by referees.
“Dylan tweaked his medial ligament during passing, I think,” he said. “I didn’t see it happen. We’ll assess the severity of that tomorrow.”

I am pleased that BBM has spoken his mind here. Normally he is quite diplomatic.
But he's right, it is ridiculous what has gone on with referees and Salech this season.

You know it’s bad when BBM speaks out.
Let’s be honest, the whole league has had a free hit on Salech all season.
The referring in this league is far below the standards it should be.
Hopefully it isn’t as bad as it looked, he was in some pain!

This is just horrendous. The ref is fully accountable and should be decommissioned, the absolute c***.

Well said BBM. Salech has been roughly treated by refs all season.
Surely there is someone at the club who can put a video together of all "fouls" he's had against him and send it to the EFL and referees association.

Well said BBM, hes spoken out previously about a lack of protection for him.

Absolutely raging after that today. The ref their tin pot fans and the way their players reacted at the end like as if they've won the world cup.
They're irrelevant anyway, miles behind us and they'll be stuck in this league for a long time if they play like that.
Hope Salech is ok but I fear the worst all down to the ref and is inability to protect our players absolute disgrace.

All signs are positive from BBM and he said there were ‘positive messages’ coming from the hospital.

Hope so, I'm in line with Salech first half and it was bordering on GBH first half.
I'm all for a physical battle but it was scandalous the treatment he got.

We had this problem with Moore too if you've got a big centre forward they can't possibly be fouled. Nothing like as bad as Salech but the standard of refereeing between the championship and league one is night and day

Agree with everything BBM says.
Now the club needs to follow it up with a FORMAL complaint to the EFL and the Referee's association and ask for a thorough explanation as to the incompetence of the retards they are consistently sending to referee our games.
It may not change anything but it should be placed on record the staggeringly low level of officiating we see week in and week out in League 1.

100% agree it should be a formal complaint with video evidence but if efl are involved, no chance snowgate derby and water gate rotherham nothing in our favour

Perhaps other officials will afford him better protection when he returns ,big learning curve for the player ,needs to dive more

As the club made a formal complaint?
They should be protecting Salech and our other players, if a complaint is not made nothing will change.
