Salech injury - this is what happens with L1 refs

Sat Jan 24, 2026 1:03 pm

This looks really nasty for Salech.

This is what happens with refs in this league.

Given him no protection at all and something like this was waiting to happen.

Elbow to the head, ref let it go & 5 seconds later books Wintle for a trip.

Ref seemed to be watching and give nothing, absolutely disgusting

Is it concussion guys or a cut to the head?

Or is it some other injury?

Not able to watch today

Ref needs sacking.

No protection for Salech, defender clearly thought he had a free hit all day on him.

Agree but didnt think the centre half was too bad in this.incident. He fell ackwardly. Broken his neck is my guess. Could be season ending. Awful.

Absolute shocking by the ref Salech has had no protection all season this kind of outcome was inevitable f*cking furious

I thought the defender fell on his neck area.
Sure to be out for a while as this looks serious!

I wasn’t sure if he fell on him and that really damaged his neck. Hope it’s not that and just the elbow as hopefully that won’t be as bad. Scary scenes this. Again he gets no protection in this league

Stockport player jumped first was higher then salech come in from the Stockport players left and side jumped and caught his elbow then they both landed on top of each other more or less. Nothing intensional about it in my opinion just the landing of them both didn't help. Although the refs are terrible in this league from most the other games I've seen also :bluescarf:

Agree with your assessment there mate. Nothing intentional by their player. This is professional football not walking football for the over 60s.

Let's hope Salech has not got a fractured or broken neck as we would be unlikely to see him again this season.

An injury like that and it’s more than just this season I’d be worried about.

Whether the ref thinks it's a foul or not (at the match so not seen a replay) is irrelevant.

It was clearly a serious head injury and the game should have been stopped immediately.

This ref is a c**t. Pure and simple.

I thought he lead with his elbow if Salech does that 100% gets given as a free kick against him

Deliberate elbow from my view!! Naughty

We not the only ones who play with these refs. It is what it is for now, we turning into a bunch of powder puff snowflakes. We bullied teams for years our style has changed (for the better) we need to toughen up.

I suggest you look at that again !!

Even the Sky analysis have said it’s deliberate. He’d been leaving something on Salech right from the off but that was naughty. It’s the sort of thing you might do in a Sunday league game.

He tries to disguise it but anyone who’s played the game knows what he’s doing there.

Then barry murphy has to speak out diplomatically of course to get him some protection

The defender disguised it very well, but it was an intentional forearm smash to the back of the neck. The ref is stood next to it and I cannot believe he didn't see it. Praying that Salech is OK never mind his chances of playing again anytime soon as it certainly didn't look good.

I sit in block 113 and from my view it was 100% deliberate. Their number 33 had a run up and jumped higher than Salech and came down with a deliberate elbow on the back of Salech's neck. Absolutely shocking and should have been a straight red.

Fingers crossed Salech makes a quick recovery.

And Salech ran 15 yards into the challenge too.

Beaten in the air, came off worse. Part of the game. Just glad there's no serious injury.

Good news that he's fine.

But I stand by my comments and I hope referees take note of BBM's comments and improve how they do things.

Salech celebrated a free kick given for him against Northampton away like it was a goal.

I love the physical battle between players but he literally gets nothing when he's being assaulted.

Today went beyond that, where I sit is in line with with all of Salech's duels first half and it was bordering on assault.

The ref didn't do his job and that thug at the back carried on and could've done some serious damage thankfully the reports are Salech is ok.

The ref and their team were a disgrace today one of the worst I've seen down there, no doubt they'll lap this up like some sort of moral victory like they celebrated at the end like they had won the world cup.

Awful team, awful fans just a bunch of thugs.

This isn't the 1970's. Jumping higher than your opponent and coming down deliberately with your elbow on the back of his neck to cause injury isn't part of modern football, it's assault.

That’s how I saw it and when I watched it back home, the Sky pundits agreed!

Brad Hills was a deliberate backside all through the game! When he wasn’t assaulting opposing players, he was in the referees face, as well as being involved in pretty much every little incident that went on; either directly or with his peripheral actions/comments!

The (very knowledgeable) lady who sits next to me was going apoplectic with rage, as she saw his ‘game’ early on; way before the ‘assault’ and long after!

Hills apart, the only thing that may need to be considered is that Salech is a little lightweight in some situations, so maybe a more robust striker might be worth bringing into the squad to use in such situations?

I use the analogy that bullies usually don’t like it back! :ayatollah:
