“ GABRIEL OSHO “

Thu Jan 22, 2026 11:38 am

Gabriel joined City in the summer from Ligue 1 side Auxerre and reflected on his time as a Bluebird so far.

The centre-back's resilience culminated in an impressive showing against the Bantams last time out.

Gabriel : “It was a challenging first couple of months but it seems to be getting better since January. My first game against Bradford City, I gave away a penalty; the second game was against Wigan Athletic, which was better.

“Then the Leyton Orient and Reading games were tough for me. It was difficult to come in as a new player and you don’t play as you want to.

“My teammates, the manager and my family have helped me through that. I would be surprised if it didn't hit anyone hard. I’m an emotional guy so it was tough, especially as a new player.

"I’ve learned to be resilient. I'm strong in my faith and have leant on that. It seems to be bouncing back at the moment."

Brian Barry-Murphy has strong options at his disposal in the centre-back position, with Will Fish, Calum Chambers and Dylan Lawlor, along with Gabriel, all making a large contribution so far this season.

“It’s amazing," he added. "I don’t think I’ve been in a team where the competition for one position has had so many players that can play in any given week.

"It’s good for the team, keeps everyone hungry and fresh so we’re going into games and everyone is feeling like they can perform at 100%. It makes training really competitive.

“We’ve got quite a good mix of ages across the team. The more experienced guys have won leagues before and have been promoted.

"We’re balancing that with the younger players who maybe haven’t experienced it before and everything is good at the moment.

“It does help that the younger players haven’t experienced it because they’re so enthusiastic. We have such a good spirit in the changing room, there’s a great atmosphere."

A bit of a dodgy start but I think he is going to become a key player in the run in :bluebird:

Really honest press conference with Osho.

By all accounts he played well last week and hopefully builds off that.

Just spotted your signature quote from Sven Hassel - as a young man, I had all his WW2 novels, absolutely brilliant read all of them!

I like the attitude. Bradford result means nothing unless we back it up. Brilliant

Comes over an honest guy and I hope he gets to the potential we all thought he had. He is nearly there.

We’re finally starting to see the best of Gabriel Osho and that can only be a good thing!

Personally, I didn’t make a big deal of his recent error, as I thought our keeper was more at fault; but I think both have learned a lesson and more than atoned themselves in the games since! :ayatollah:

Was much more impressed on his last game , I don’t feel as nervous now when he’s playing , seems a top lad too so onwards and upwards for this kid , Good luck Osho I’m feeling more confident now that you fit in with the great Bluebirds :bluebird: :bluebird:

I've always said in life, if you can't laugh at yourself you can't laugh at anything.

His pre-match interview is the most candid I can remember from any player, and well done to him for that. He's obviously a really nice guy and must have been mortified with his first few games with us.

It shows real character in a man to put that behind him and keep on believing in his own ability. He is definitely on the upward curve form wise and long may it continue. Well done Osho, I salute you. :notworthy: :bluebird:

I stick up for him a lot but he started badly and my heart skipped a beat whenever he got the ball today.
