14 days to go of the transfer window.

Tue Jan 20, 2026 10:33 am

Anyone else guess who we will sign or how many.

I'm hoping we get another 3 in although we have got some goalkeeper already as back up to the other two there.

Will BBM be backed that's the question although he will say our squads good enough even if he isn't backed come the end of it.

Fingers crossed we get a couple or more and we can push on as injuries and illnesses will come I'm sure. There is no better time than now to make sure we stay where we are but we all know this :bluescarf:

Must get a left back in and maybe a striker / winger too. Anything else would be a bonus imo

Agree. Got to get a LB. Thr manager has mentioned he wants a LB about five times now so surely we'll get one in.

Also agree about a winger/striker.

The issue with us getting in a left back is bagan is going to play 99% of the time so whoever we bring in will have to be comfortable with sitting on the bench, so probably rules out a young premiership loan as there club would want the player getting a lot of game time, so think we will be looking for an older option maybe even someone out of contract happy to pick up a wage

I think we will bring in a speedy forward player and someone to play back up to Wintle

He may very well start rotating bagan with the same quality player so it will be interesting to see who he brings in bagan has played a lot of games probably him and salec the most.

Re: 14 days to go of the transfer window.

Tue Jan 20, 2026 1:31 pm

I would like to see a good striker cover for salec as Robinson as much as I like his passion, is not getting much of a look in under murphy, he has tried him from the off but subbed him half time,
he blows hot and cold sometimes he is not in the game when coming in as a sub, then other times he was the perfect sub scoring 1 maybe 2 goals so if we could I would like to find another salec type.

Club are hoping finalise one or two very soon I believe, also pushing for a third player to come in

Or you buy someone 'better' and create competition; as per NG & Kpakio. Why would they have to sit in the bench?

This is inline with what I was told, but won’t go into specifics other than to say at least one known poster on this Forum will back me up when/if certain things happen!

It will put paid to certain presumptions that the club ‘created’ the embargo to avoid any signings this window, which were quickly proven incorrect!

It’s not about ITK, as I’m not privy to names, it’s more about trusting your source(s)! :ayatollah:

to bring in someone of the quality needed to challenge bagan would cost more than tan would be willing to spend in my opinion and a young loan would be expected to go straight in to the team by there parent club which isn't going to happen which is why I think we would be looking for a more experienced player, all just my opinion of course

Absolutely no source whatsover but I have a weird gut feeling that we will (re)sign Rabbi Matondo.

No idea why other than was mentioned a bit a while ago and then went quiet but just seems to tick a lot of the right boxes and BBM signings seem to be things that are worked on in the background a while (Trott, Osho and Tyrer all said similar things around this) and just have a weird feeling it is still going to happen.

I largely agree, which is why I won’t elaborate; but I trust what I’ve been told!

My main point was that despite early ‘gossip’ surrounding the embargo, the club had specific ‘targets’ ahead of the window opening, and expect new faces over the next few days/week! :ayatollah:

Other than a left back not sure we need anyone else for this league tbh

This season for a change - I'm not worried about who we are going to get and sort out the mess we use to find ourselves in.
Having said that - Still need a couple of players to finish the job off to cover injuries / suspensions .

BBM confirmed in a Q&A on Monday evening that we need LB cover and was confident thay we would have someone in before the deadline the way he was talking I would say there is one very close to joining us.

Wasn’t Biancheri mention as a done deal type of comment just before the window opened?
No mention of his name lately.

Because he come back home for Christmas and happened to be at a game with some family who are Cardiff fans people guessing that's why but claim to be in the know it really cracks me up. It's like somebody who saysmt source told me we are going to sign a player but can't say his name, yet it's the transfer window so he probably right

Let's hope we don' t let anyone go lawlor kipakio Ashford that would be 3 quality players which would need replacing , lets just get promoted before we even think about it, maybe adjustments after we are until then hopefully we will not disrupt the team and squad with loosing players,
and why would Ashford join Sheffield United there 4 points off relegation zone

Money is why. It's the reason players move who wouldn't irrelevant of club and league position, it's just how football is, it's a job :ayatollah:

Surely you want to be with a team going places not getting relegated i am sure the team we have now the players would rather be playing for cardiff top of the division or perhaps earning more money at port vale bottom of the division.
Not saying vale are paying more, but as an example.

Monty,

Moment our best players should leave.

Also it’s not like we ever spend abs even when we sell, the money goes straight to the Hierarchy.

On the left back situation you’re probably right if you’re talking about loans.

However, if we’re looking at permanent signings we need to get a better left back if we’re confident about going back to the Championship.

Bagan has had a very good season but he still gets found out, positionally, when up against decent wide players. In the Championship last season it happened time and time again.

It’s harsh because of how he’s played this season but I just don’t see him making it at Championship level.

Best players will leave at some point, that's just a fact of being any club that isn't one of the few elite.

Look at Palace. Won the FA Cup but within a space of a year will have lost their manager, captain, best player and main striker.

It's nothing to do with who runs the club. It will always be the way that the best players go to bigger clubs. Don't expect it to happen this window, but it will at some point.

I'll take a punt and say we'll get one player in at most.

But also possibly none.

I do hope we bring more than one in.

Granted BBM likes a small squad but I'm sure even he would ideally want more than one.

Every squad needs a bit if a freshen up in Jan, especially those fighting relegation or gunning for promotion.

It will all depend on whether Tan wants to continue to do this on a tiny budget I suppose.

1m spent on financing a few loans would secure promotion. Without it, we could still get there but why take the risk. We have no youngsters left to call upon now. Should anything happen to our key players (Salech especially where goals would dry up), we could find ourselves limping towards the line.

Come on Tan, be smart, ensure this reset ends up being the best thing to happen to Cardiff City in recent years!!!

We have had colwill out for a long period we recently had bagan and kellyman out and kapakio imagine if these we long injuries such as rubin and we had failed to cover all eventualities this is why we need to sign on loan quality players for cover ,what a shame it would be to miss out on promotion because we failed to cover injuries,
we have rid ourselves again with a lot of players so our bench would look rather thin if we loose say 3 regulars.
