Ref v Bradford

Nothing wrong with the referees performance so it’s an 8 from me. The big decisions all went our way.

He was good up until that tackle on Ashford. That's a slam dunk red

I think he got that one right as Ashford was way too far away from goal and it wasn’t a challenge that endangered a players safety.

I agree he was too far away from goal but that was a reckless and not a careless tackle that could have given Ashford a serious injury, it's a red for me.

wasn't conned by their theatrics in the box and let the game flow as best he could. A solid 7 from me.

Far from the worst we have had but there should have been two pens and a red card in that game.

No issue with goalscoring chance part of it we were on the break at the halfway line that part of it was fine for a yellow. The guy came from behind late, lunged and put his studs down Ashfords calf, if that's not a dangerous tackle I don't know what is

Regarding the Ashford challenge I think he only saw the shirt tugging that pulled him down and not the actual tackle which saved him being red carded. I'm not sure any of the penalty shouts were nailed on personally, certanly not the one involving Chambers - he had no chance of getting out of his way as the striker ran straight at him looking for a pen, and the striker stuck his arm in Chambers face as he went down. You could argue Bagan's was a foul and we've seen them given, but it looked like a coming together rather than a foul to me. All opinions of course but I thought he did managed the game pretty well overall.

I agree on the Ashford tackle it may not have been close to goal but to dive in on a player from behind like that when he doesn't even have the ball at his feet shows the players intention was to take Ashford out
He didn't even look at the ball he knew Ashford was getting away from him so he took him out
I've seen reds given for less this season but I suppose refs interpretation of the rules vary

Didn’t vote, but I think I know how the Bradford City supporters did!
“
They only came for the Bluebirds…!”

I thought he was crap. Again. Id love to know how much the lower leagues are impacted by crap ref's.

I don't know how Alexander and some of the Bradford fans can say that's a penalty. He just ran into Chambers who had nowhere to move and barged him over. It should have been a foul on Chambers and a free kick to us.
The referee did well, the game flowed and I didn't notice him much, which is the sign of a good ref.

Best ref of the season in my opinion (although it's a very low bar).
I can accept the Bagan penalty shout (arm to the face when ref will be looking for leg on leg contact). Same as the tackle on Ashford, as the foul was predominantly dragging him down and from his angle he wouldn't be able to see the leg to the calf.
Got key decisions when Bradford threw themselves to the ground spot on.

Watched the Ashford one again as at first look from in the stadium I thought yellow as he was still far from goal but watching it back was a reckless and nasty challenge and think he was lucky to stay on the pitch

It's a 6 for me as he got a couple of major decisions wrong in my opinion. That tackle should have been a red card, it was nasty.

Totally agree with this!
I appreciate Graham Alexander only has eyes for perceived misdemeanours against his own players, but on the balance of play, I think we were the more unlucky not to get a few more decisions going our way; particularly the nasty and deliberate Ashford assault!

6 for me. At first glance and from where I was behind the goal, he missed a pen for both sides. However, on TV, there was no way Sarcevic incident was a pen. He threw himself into Chambers.
On the red, I'd say he got it right but the still photo above does show a very high foot......
One thing... I felt he was consistent in his interpreration for hoth sides.

I missed the tackle so went for a yellow. On seeing that he’s a very lucky boy not to see red. If var was being used he’s gone.

I think their centre half was lucky not to get a red too. Got a yellow early on for that foul on Salech, gave away a few fouls after it too.
