League One manager sacked

Sat Jan 17, 2026 9:17 pm

Huddersfield Town have sacked Lee Grant.

Grant was only appointed in the summer.

With a large amount of summer spending, they were expected to compete for the top two.

But after their 3-1 defeat to Burton Albion on Saturday, they are 6th - 16 points behind leaders Cardiff City and 10 points away from second placed Lincoln City. They have also played a game more than both of those teams.

Perfect just in time for a new manager bounce against Bradford next Saturday

Huddersfield have really surprised me, along with Luton. They were two teams I expected to be around the top two all season.

Luton not had much of a bounce since Wilshere came in, I'd say they're better than they were but just steady.

We don't really need to worry about Huddersfield with the lead we have over them. I'm surprised Grant has lasted this long, they should be higher in the league with their squad.

I thought Huddersfield, Luton and Plymouth were going to be our biggest competition but they have been shocking considering money spent by some of those clubs

seems a bit daft sacking the manager in third week of January when you are 6th?

Their expectations were top two after spending a lot in the summer.

Liam Manning will be announced as their new manager this week.
