A forum for all things Cardiff City

We can confirm that Kion Etete has returned to Cardiff City following his loan spell at Rotherham United.
The 24-year-old played 14 times while with the Millers, during the first half of the 2025/26 season.
His current City record stands at nine goals in 63 appearances in all competitions.

In my opinion, we should try and find a way to terminate his contract early. Will have to pay off his contract but it's better for everyone if he leaves the club.
Otherwise we're stuck with him for 18 months.
Apparently at Rotherham there was a game where he had 0 sprints, part of the reason they sent him back.

Etete is back. It's like having a new signing

0 sprints
Wow, that is poor!!

Why we gave this fraud a new contract beggers belief in my opinion. Absolutely mad with his injury record. For me he's a conference player at best like Bambi on ice but some will say he's still young when he's not or that's our new transfer window signing

If he hasn't made it by now he should be released and let him find his level ( Sunday league )

And Bolton could not wait to send him back
Once again the Famous Transfer Committee of the past haunts us and Costly
And they just gave him a New Contract Two of the Clowns

I would get him on the brush painting the gates and white wall he does' nt have to sprint just up and down. To think he was at spurs.

Tan will probably tell murphy there' s your new striker.

Cannot believe we gave him a new contract absolute ludicrous but just chuck it on the pile of other stupid shit the clowns have done since they've been here

100% agree Annis.
It is the fault of the transfer committee.
Have to feel sorry for the player as he’s not trying to get injured.
Madness to re sign and need to try and offload now, even if we take a hit with wages.
The men upstairs are at fault (again) and it’s unfair to call him a fraud imo

Just to try and be balanced and a sprinkle of optimism....
....can BBM improve him? Or is it completely dead?
It's the latter for me, but there aren't many other out and out strikers in the club.

BBM took a look at him in the summer and sent him straight on loan, that tells me he has no intention of using him.
Best for everyone is a clean break between City and Etete. He can get on with his career elsewhere. But would require us to pay off his contract.

I think we'll try to send him on loan, the lad hasn't found his level yet.
If i were him i wouldn't settle. He is not getting anything like a low championship squad or L1 contact in the foreseeable future.
L2 or National league and start scoring would be his best scenario, then hopefully get a free in the summer with a lump sum leaving bonus to make up the shortfall.

Send him to Merthyr. If he can rekindle his career and help them get promoted then it would be a good move.

We have to look at terminating this guys contract surely?!
You also have to question what kind of scouting/research was done before we paid 600k for him….

This crossed my mind, until I remembered that the club (not BBM) gave Kion Etete a new two-year contract only in January of last year, so he has another season after this!
I actually liked what I saw early on, but the injuries have added up, and I’m no longer sure he has a future at our club, or maybe at any professional club?
I sincerely hope I’m wrong and Kion recovers his health, fitness and form to prove his worth!
