Good luck to him

He was a decent keeper but he just isn't the type of keeper who suits our system

Confirmed, good luck to him:

Goalkeeper Jak Alnwick has today departed Cardiff City, joining Huddersfield Town on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

We'd like to thank Jak for his contribution and wish him all the very best for the future.

Good luck to you Jak.

It's a sad end to a very good servant to Cardiff City. He deserved to be treated better this season.

Nice bloke but cost us a load of points last season, Trott in and we stay up even with Riza.

He did cost us points but he always seemed professional and did his best.

There are many other reasons why we got relegated last season not just the goalkeeper.

He dropped points for us against Stoke that was about it, decent keeper. Maybe but Trott is magic so it's not a fair comparison to an average keeper

A little surprised by the destination, as I thought he was going to Dundee. However, personal circumstances mean a move back north was the ideal scenario for himself, his family, and for Cardiff City FC

Never really let us down, and I wish Jak Alnwick all the very best; unless he plays against us! :laughing6:  :ayatollah:

A very decent keeper and TBH I've been a little surprised on his situation although we have lucked out with Trott for sure. All the best Jak and thanks.

Question: Who is our current GK coach, I'd be interested to know as I'm boring like that?

I think Gavin Ward is still goalkeeping coach, not sure though.

As for Alnwick, I would say the reason he hasn't been involved and has now been sold has nothing to do with his shot stopping abilities. It's more down to him not being good enough with his feet for our style of play.

It's the same reason why BBM told Ralls and Rinomhota they weren't needed on day one. Difference is they were out of contract so could just leave but Alnwick was still under contract and seems we couldn't move him on in the summer.

Originally it was all about Cost Cutting.

Both goalkeepers at the time were told their wages were too high.

Thankfully BBM found Trott

Thanks Ned, it looks like Gavin Ward is indeed the coach according to wiki and CGPT.

Cheers Annis, I had a feeling wages were a key issue as Alnwick is a pretty solid GK. And as you say, Trott has been an immense signing, we do need to tie him down with that permanent contract and pretty soon as he's sure to attract a bit of interest.

I agree it was mostly Riza, but the goalkeepers were very weak and a big contributor.

BBM spotted they were not up to it and replaced both straight away, and what a difference it has made.

You’re right about BBM ‘seeing’ the issue, where his preferred style of play was concerned

Getting Nathan Trott in, has proven to be a super bit of business all around, as he has effectively replaced two keepers in one hit, saving his boss a lot of money, whilst also putting his faith and confidence in an excellent young keeper in Matt Turner!

All credit to BBM! :ayatollah:
