Wigan Athletic have cancelled Paul Mullin's loan from Wrexham early. He was due to stay at the club until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old has scored five goals in 26 appearances but was left out of the last four matchday squads.

"Mulls' loan spell has been terminated," said Parkinson.

"We'll have a chat with him this week when he comes back in. He needs to train this week as he's missed a few days of training."

Mullin, 31, played a pivotal role in Wrexham's three successive promotions under Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, scoring 110 goals in 170 games and enjoying a prominent role in the Welcome to Wrexham documentary series.

However, following the Red Dragons' promotion to the Championship last season, he joined the League One Latics on loan for the duration of the 2025-26 campaign.

Mullin scored five times in 26 appearances for Wigan and leaves the Brick Community Stadium having been omitted from each of the club's past four matchday squads.

"I've only spoken to him briefly over the Christmas period," added Parkinson.

"We haven't really been in training much because of the games and staying in hotels.

"I'll touch base with him on the way back today and we'll have a good chat when he comes in this week."

I do remember our fans calling on him to have a Wales cap

The British footballs pyramid system is the ultimate capitalist venture, its sorts the wheat from the chaff. He is a L2 second striker, needs a big fella to take the knocks for him, but a great finisher at that level.

A total of 7 L1 goals in 46 attempts.

I think you mean 1 poster asked the question & everyone else laughed at how ridiculous it was to even think it.

Wrexham should let Newport have him.

Vaguely remember him turning down league one clubs to go to Wrexham, and it wasn’t because of the celebrity status then but was more a personal thing. I doubt he will want to move down south to Newport, even though he would certainly do a job there.

He didn’t set the world alight with a strong Wrexham team in league 1 last year, perhaps he’s either wasted his prime in the lower leagues or it’s simply a bridge too far. Broadhead and Moore are vastly better players than him, I’d say even Mark Harris offers more

That's why he left Cambridge (he was the top scorer and just got promoted to League One), because he didn't like that he was so far from his family in Liverpool.
