WOL: PLAYER RATINGS (v Wigan)

Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:46 pm

Nathan Trott 7
Largely untroubled but produced a sharp save from Fraser Murray to keep Cardiff in front. Distribution was calm and composed.

Perry Ng 7
Defended diligently and got forward well when possible. Put in several dangerous crosses and tracked runners effectively.

Dylan Lawlor 7

Solid defensively and showed good awareness to snuff out danger on the counter. Nearly got on the end of a flick-on in the first half.

Calum Chambers 8
A captain’s performance capped by a sensational winning goal from distance. Calm in possession and dominant at the back.

Joel Bagan 8
Provided width and quality delivery down the left. Nearly squeezed one in at the near post late on. Continues his solid run of form.

Ryan Wintle 7
Kept things ticking in midfield and supported attacks well. Forced a smart save from distance in stoppage time.

Alex Robertson 8 (star man)
Influential throughout, particularly from set-pieces. Covered defensively, drove forward with purpose and unlucky not to score. Played some smart passes in behind, too.

Cian Ashford 8
Bright and fearless, repeatedly taking on his man. Created a big chance for Salech and worked tirelessly before being replaced.

Omari Kellyman 7
Lively early on and tested the keeper twice - should maybe have done better with his third big chance. Faded slightly as the game wore on but showed flashes of quality.

Chris Willock 8
A constant threat with his trickery and movement. Involved in much of Cardiff’s best attacking play and got players in behind the backline.

Yousef Salech 7
Led the line well and was a handful for defenders. Went close on several occasions but couldn’t find the finishing touch.

Substitutes

Ollie Tanner (Ashford 72) 7
Made an immediate impact with a series of dangerous crosses. Added real impetus down the right.

Callum Robinson (Kellyman 72) 7
Sharp and energetic, twice coming close with efforts from the edge of the box.

Will Fish (Lawlor 84) – N/A
Introduced late to see the game out.

I am at a loss for Robertson.

Would have upgraded Kellyman to an 8 but otherwise I agree.

8??? Come on, you're fishing at this stage, surely?

What did he do yesterday to warrant an 8? :laughing6:

I'd have given him a 6. A 7 is then a decent performance, a handful of big chances... an 8 to me is a goal &/or assist or a significant performance!?

I agree with all else, maybe drop Salech to 6 also as he didn't do much/get much service.

I thought he was good at making space for himself in the first half and giving himself opportunities.

One shot he put wide that he probably should have done better with but his movement caused them issues.

Maybe closer to 7.5 but if we're going with the full number out of ten then I'll stick with 8.
