JANUARY A HUGE MONTH IN OUR SEASON

Fri Jan 02, 2026 1:00 pm

As we enter the New Year 2026, we should reflect proudly on the season so far, the impact of BBM, and the gelling of a young squad, who have ‘bought into’ and ‘grown into’ BBM’s ‘system

Some ‘big’ games to come, and with the amount and quality involved, the month of January, is vitally important to our ambitions for the season, and could either push us further ahead, or allow the gap to close

Personally, I think we’ll hold our own during the period, but we may not have it all our own way. After that, we can assess our position going into February, and be ready for it!

January games:

Thurs Jan 1 - Wycombe Wanderers 1 - 1 Cardiff City (Result)

Sun Jan 4 - Cardiff City v Wigan Athletic (3pm)

Sat Jan 10 - Leyton Orient v Cardiff City (3pm)

Sat Jan 17 - Bradford City v Cardiff City (Live Sky Tv - 12:30 pm)

Sat Jan 24 - Cardiff City v Stockport County (Live Sky Tv - 12:30 pm)

Tues Jan 27 - Cardiff City v Barnsley (7:45 pm)

Sat Jan 31 - Burton Albion v Cardiff City (7:45 pm)

Spot on Chris.

January is huge, not because of any potential transfers, but because of these games.

Bradford away is a big test and Orient away will be difficult too.

We are doing very well at home so have to be confident about those games.

Good time to be playing them.

They are all struggling to hit form with only Bradford holding their own.

I would be proud if we were doing this in the championship because in my opinion we should not be in this league thank you tan choo and dalman

I agree; but we are where we are, and we’re currently making the most of it!

Let’s have one good season, and evolve from there, shall we?

You never know, after the previous few seasons, we might just be the stronger for it, with this coach/squad! :ayatollah:

I agree Chris.

There was a time for complaining about us being in this league but that time has long gone.

People just need to try and enjoy the fact we're doing well, even though it seems some struggle to enjoy anything about City.

Why should we enjoy being in this league? Why should we enjoy having an owner who does not give a shit about the club? Why should we enjoy Having a board like Dalman and Choo who show less care than Tan?

I suppose some are happy beating teams that we could fit in the corner of our stadium. Yeah great.

Yeah, I know Tan lives rent free in some people's heads.

I got over relegation before the season started because you have to.

What does constantly thinking about last season achieve? Nothing.

And yeah people should be happy we're top of the league - especially you, as you've been saying we'd fall to mid table the last few months.

As to your last line, the size of clubs doesn't matter. Bournemouth aren't the biggest club but are successful and that's great to see.

Some of our fans like to dismiss some clubs just because they have a small fanbase but personally I think it's great to see clubs like that doing well.

Back to the point, I'll enjoy this season and you carry on being miserable about the club if that's what you want to do.

I'm not miserable you judgemental c**t. I'm angry yes and even more angry when guys like you say we all should be happy we are top in a league that is below us. Why should I be happy with that?

it seems you want to bring me down as I felt we would be mid table. Fair enough but that opens the gate for me to remind you what you said about Omar Riza. You should be the last person to knock other peoples opinions.

Yeah I did say that and I was wrong. Very few others are admitting they were wrong, I do - that's the difference.

Well if you can't be happy about being top of the league then you clearly are intent on being miserable.

There's literally nothing more we could do this season so far than be top of the league, not to mention a cup quarter finals.

You just clearly can't accept things are good right now because Tan lives rent free in your head.

Great post Worcester.

Every City fan I know, and that’s quite a few, are dead happy with our season and situation. I can’t understand anyone who wouldn’t be.

I never thought I’d say it but going down to L1 was probably the best thing that could have happened to us.
A reset, fans loving the football and the excitement of being top of the league and playing great football compared to the dross of Bulit and Riza.

Many thought it was a chore to watch us in recent seasons and went down through habit as much as anything else.

Now it’s a completely different vibe.

Let the miserable sods be miserable!

Very hard to disagree with this, Paul; so I won’t!

Most I know are very ‘happy’ with the way the season is going, and that we’re currently on course to achieve our sole aim; promotion back to the Championship

We can moan all we like, but the facts are that we are where we are, mainly due to poor management and decisions, at Board and team management levels

We were sinking as a club, and as a support-base, but the decision (forced or unforced) to go with youth with a Head Coach who knows how to develop youngsters, has proven to be the boon this club, and us supporters, have needed for sometime now!

An irony, is that the claim League One is ‘below us’, isn’t supported by the fact we spent more years in my time in the two lower leagues than the top two!

I repeat, we are where we are, most have accepted it, and we should be moving on together. BBM and his squad deserve that! :ayatollah:

Thanks Chris, and again, you’re right also.

I found the quote “in a league that is below us” very strange. I guess some of our fans are entitled and think we are or should be superior but I, like you, have seen a lot of City games in the lower leagues! At the moment we are where we deserve to be and I’m loving it.

Well, I tend to agree with your sentiment, but let’s get there again first, and then we’ll know!

Vincent Tan, who clearly doesn’t ’care’ for the supporters, but wants a ‘return’ on his ‘investment’, would, IMHO, be fully exposed (if he hadn’t been up to now) for his actions

I’ve often used the term ‘lucky’ when it comes to the appointment of BBM, and I stand by that; mainly fur the reasons you state above!

However, we won’t ‘know’ until we get there, so let’s just enjoy this season fir what it is, and the future will become apparent in due course (sell, stick, or twist for Tan et al @ the CCS) :ayatollah:

:ayatollah:

We are top of the league because of the manager, he was not first choice but because of the the demands put on people interviewed before him (squad ripped apart, no money and youth to be played to fill squad up) they walked away and BBM was next in line. These were Tans demands and he got lucky with a man who is brilliant with kids. Yes City fans deserve some success after the sh*t of last season and before. But ask yourself this question, if we go up will this vile owner fund the squad next season?? He hasn't for a number of seasons now, (hence where we are) he hates the fans and hasn't been to a game for over 3 years. People should be concerned about dictator Tan because without big funding next season we'll go straight back down.

Fair point.

I agree; but we are where we are, and we’re currently making the most of it!

Let’s have one good season, and evolve from there, shall we?

You never know, after the previous few seasons, we might just be the stronger for it, with this coach/squad! :ayatollah:

Biggest achievement off the pitch will be keeping Lawlor.

And i'm another one who has seen the City in the lower two leagues than the top two so whoever said this league is below us - don't be daft, just look at the club's modern history - comments like that just make us look really arrogant. Enjoy being a big club for a season and don't let your hatred of Tan blind you to what is a brilliant, hugely enjoyable season.

We're top of the league playing great football with a squad that has 10 home grown players in it. We were the last league side in the league cup and went out with our heads held high giving the current holders of the World Club Cup a decent game and earning plaudits from far and wide in doing so.

We are trying to fend off interest for our prize centre back from Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool amongst others, but he signed a long term deal to 2028 tart of the season so the ball is 100% in our court.

RIght now, exactly what would you like to see that would show more ambition? What more could you want? So yes not enjoying the current moment makes you a miserable git. :santa:

You sound like a deluded Newcastle fan with comments like that.

Post-war we have spent as many seasons in the third tier as we have in the top tier. Saying we should not be in this league is just arrogant and ignorant of the historical reality. Over our entire history we've been a rock solid second tier club, with the occasional periods in the first and third tiers and of course the period in the basement of the 80s and early 90s.

We got relegated because we had years of mis-management, journey-man players signing for outrageous wages, ridiculous managerial revolving door...

Just be sheer luck, we had a crop of generational talent and ended up with the perfect fit in BBM in manager who knew how to develop youth and establish a cohesive fluid style of football across the age groups (watch the under 21s and you will see them playing the exact same patterns as the first team).

In terms of ambition I said at the beginning of the season I expected us to win the league and then push the play-off next season, just can't get my head around all the moaning from some of the fanbase. It's like after the last few years of dross being miserable is the default

As for me. I'm loving this season and will take the bumps in the road as part of the adventure, this side is literally getting better and better as the season goes on. I bloody loves it.
