HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT WIN THIS AFTER CHANCE AFTER CHANCE:

Cardiff virtually dominated this game.

Wycombe did have some good periods

But Cardiff def deserved to win this game.

CARDIFF CITY STILL TOP OF THE LEAGUE

Wycombe had only Won 1 game in their last 8 games

Cardiff have been amazing and Won 7 out of their last 8 games

FIRST-HALF CARDIFF WERE THE BETTER SIDE OVER ALL:

Cardiff 8-6 on Shots

64% Possession Cardiff

After just 6mins:
Willock picks-up in 2026 where he left off the previous year!
He curls for the corner, it takes a small deflection and hits the net. City one-up! 0-1

21mins Crossbar! Joel Colwill's powerful strike bounces out off the woodwork

29min Early change as David replaced Alex Robertson as Robertson would of been sent.

31mins Boyd-Munce converts directly from his corner! 1-1
Could be a Kpacio own goal

Cardiff finished the half the better team.

Was a bit scrappy for long periods

68mns Tanner, Robinson and Ashford on

Willock Joel Collwill and Jellyman off

74min Good shot by Robinson and a good save

74min Chambers on for Osho

77min Robinson misses the goal right in front of him

85min - Salech now sees a header cleared off the line. (1-1)

CARDIFF CITY POSSESSION 68 % SHOTS 17 / 5 SHOTS ON TARGET

WYCOMBE 32% 8 and 2

We weren't going to score a second goal even if we had played until Saturday. Would have taken a draw before kick off and that's what we got.

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

Thu Jan 01, 2026 5:01 pm

Very poor from Colwill, Salech and Robinson unfortunately!

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

Thu Jan 01, 2026 5:03 pm

Another frustrating performance up front. Just not clinical enough.

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

Thu Jan 01, 2026 5:03 pm

We deserved the win but I'll take a point need to follow it up with a win Sunday and with Bradford losing we increase our gap to third so not the worse result Wycombe are strong at home

Answer to your question,in a nutshell poor finishing.Colwill,Turnbull,Robinson and Salech had the chance to score but failed.Shit happens .
On to the next :bluescarf:

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

We’ve played some great football this season, but that was so frustrating to watch, with some poor performances. Wycombe are a terrible team though and just brought us down to their level, which was stop start and scrappy. Special mention for the Ref who is park football standard at best.

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

Thu Jan 01, 2026 5:07 pm

Still not clinical enough, but oils like to see a super mobile striker with the style we play.

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

Thu Jan 01, 2026 5:10 pm

Unfortunately, a lack of composure in three key moments cost us what should have been a very comfortable win: Colwill’s and Robinson’s sitters, and Kpackio’s lapse in concentration.

They’re human, and all of them have produced moments that have won us points before. One such moment in a game leaves you scratching your head, never mind three. That’s football.

If we’re rating the overall performance, aside from a ten-minute spell of self-destruction, we totally dominated.

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

Thu Jan 01, 2026 5:10 pm

Would have taken the point before kick off but we should have won.

I'm pleased with a point though, especially as nobody around us won.

Bradford got thrashed.

Osho played very well, should silence some of the doubters.

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

Useful point in the end. Our youngsters had a poor day. Kpackio, Colwill and Kellyman all had poor games. Kpackio needs a spell out of the side. Aside from gifting the equaliser with a total air kick he gives away the ball time after time. Hes a young lad and he'll come good again but his decision making looks tired at the moment. Salech also needs a rest. We need another striker in the window. But an away point is not s bad thing and now 5 points clear of 3rd.

Hes just back from a three month injury. Give the lad a chance. He needs games to get back in form. Look how much better Osho was today. Players sometimes just need time to hit form again.

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

Thu Jan 01, 2026 5:17 pm

I know we need to rotate our team often when we have so many games in such a short period, but surely we have to play the players in their best positions. Kellyman is not as destructive when he is playing on the wing as he is when playing in the number 10 position. NG should remain in his right back position, as Kpakio should NEVER play at the back in any position. It was the letter’s fault for their goal - how did he completely miss the ball? Oslo should never start a game , and should only be brought on when we have a good lead.
Unfortunately, Colwill missed an absolute sitter when we were one up - should have placed the ball instead of trying to smash it. Thank goodness for Wintle and Lawlor who both had very good matches. Two points thrown away though!

Some poor individual performances. Willocks crossing was abysmal, miss kick for their goal was parks standard. Colwill should have scored and sallach failed to hit target with 2 headers. Must get a CF in the transfer market. Lot of work to do to get automatic promotion

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

For the first time in what seems ages the substitutions made a negative impact on the game.
Usually they are our saviour and our strength bringing quality off the bench, but today I thought they struggled.
Ashford is too lightweight, Turnbull too negative and Tanner, that’s about as poor as I’ve seen him. Seriously lacking any quality, poor decision making, not reading runs or passes from teammates and unfit.
Colwill will be dreaming about smaking the crossbar when literally anywhere else would have scored.

Ian,

Agreed upfront today we were very poor

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

We need a poacher/goal hanger...

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

Thu Jan 01, 2026 5:39 pm

christ we are a tough crowd !!! 5 points clear of 3rd .....

The kids played poorly, almost in age order. Kapacio, Kellyman, Colwill and Robertson will all play better, its what you get with kids

Glad Osho looks like the player I thought we were getting, and Tanner is a tank of a boy. There are probably 3-mile steeplechasers who get match-fit quicker than him. We do need reinforcements out wide.

Frustating but win at home and draw away is the formula.....

Hes always been hit an miss :sleepy2: this league 1 - he has no excuse not to read game stood still Its my opinion - nothing to do with fitness its football brain - they were all off their A game today
any other day could of been a festival full of goals

Lets see how he gets on if stays injured free = Osho was excellent today correct ....

You've nailed it, good post.

Full of ifs and buts today but we didn't lose the game came away with a point.
Colwell should score and there corner shouldn't be in our net .manager tried his best subs were all right but it just didn't happen for us today no shame in the point today last season wed of lost this type of game

WTF are you talking about with the "Osho should never start a game" bullshit? He was one of the best players on the pitch today.

I agree that Osho had a good game until about the hour mark, but he was very slow for the last half hour and caused NG a few problems by being so dilatory. I probably should have said not to start him until he is fully match fit. We were much better when Chambers came on at the end.

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

Thu Jan 01, 2026 7:19 pm

Another day we would
Of scored 4 or 5 , why is this today ? Is it that the players were on the piss last night ? If they were then surely this is why we couldn’t finish them off

Re: HOW DID CARDIFF CITY TODAY NOT :

Thu Jan 01, 2026 7:20 pm

I thought starting 11 was wrong today issac davies and Ashford not starting, fish not starting kapakio lost the ball more times than he retained it willock after scoring thought he could score a hatrick with wild attempts on goal, when a cross could have been more productive,
tanner gave nearly every pass away apart from 1 cross not upto speed sadly .
