Enzo Maresca has left his role as Chelsea manager with the club sitting fifth in the Premier League.

The Italian, 45, departs less than six months after winning the Club World Cup at the end of his first season at Stamford Bridge.

"With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track," Chelsea said.

The Blues have won just one of their past seven league matches and took only six points from six games in December to fall 15 points behind leaders Arsenal.

It would be madness for Chelsea not to want him to stay and develop anyway, as it’s been such a great move for all involved

I'm sure his recent outburst is the main reason behind this.

A couple of bad results just gives them the excuse to do it.

Rosenior likely to replace him. Big job for him. Done well at their sister club Strasbourg, but Chelsea is a whole different level.

The rumours are that he was pretty pissed off with those above interfering with squad selection and tactics. They wanted squad rotation and he didn't. He has said that the squad rotation is the reason they lost so many games recently. As we are well aware, there should only be one manager in a club!
