Looking back at the top division in 1988, what really stands out to me, besides crowd size, is the names of goal scorers. Every single one has a name you’d instantly recognise – proper British-sounding names, the sort you’d hear shouted from the terraces every week.
Nothing political or daft intended, it’s just an observation about how much the game has changed. Back then, I could look down the scorers' list and pronounce every name without a second thought. I don’t think I could say the same today.
It’s a small detail, but it really does highlight just how different football was in that era.

British football is better in terms of entertainment and commercial reasons because of the foreign players.
But a good point you make, hadn't noticed that at first.

But you know as well as I do that the other European leagues have improved drastically since then, Premier League had to change.
