At 23 he will keep improving too

Great to see him score again on Monday.

In truth, he could have had a hattrick. He missed a sitter just after Stevenage scored and should have done better with another chance.

But I will say his all round play is good for a striker, he's doing better at not engaging with defenders as much so not giving as many fouls away.

In a strange way I think he's more suited to the Championship because of the way he plays.

But these are all minor problems and we all need to remember that strikers don't tend to peak until they're 27 or 28.

Salech is 23 (24 in a few weeks) so is still learning and looks to have a very high career ceiling. We will definitely make a big profit on him when he does leave. Don't see that being in January, but wouldn't be surprised to see big offers in the summer.

Ned,

A very good summary of Salech :bluebird: :bluebird:

Re: Yousef Salech for those big doubters?

The think is with Salech is we hardly play to his strengths either. He hardly ever gets a through ball to run onto. Our wingers with the possible exception of Davies always turn inside hence cutting down or delaying crosses. He spends most of every game wrestling with the centre half getting hardly any joy from most referees and his work rate is tremendous. If his heading which is his strength was a tad more on target you could easily add another 6 goals this season.

Love Salech, great attitude, pulls players out of position, aggressive, hungry and wants to develop. He will only improve and I would say we have discovered a gem in him.

Sick of saying it but the stats don't back that up. The fact he's had the most "big chances" of anyone in the league just shows that the argument doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

Just remember for what Salech cost us if he had cost, say £10mill then their could be a a bit of an argument against him, but he was peanuts

Best striker we have had for years (but I am a fan of robbo - different players and salech is a better fit)

Not just that, his attitude is first class. He appreciates the fans and certainly appears to love being here. Consistent with his workrate and always committed.

What really stands out for me is last season when someone was taken ill in the crowd. He was first over the sidings to help.

Sure he misses a few but hes still young and improving. With players like watters, kanga, etete etc that have preceded him, I think its clear who is the better player.

A brilliant signing for us.

Agree with this, however if we are promoted I don't think he will leave.

He's not ready for the Premier League yet although I do think if he keeps improving he will be good enough in a few years time.

I've taken my daughters across to the car park before the game for signatures and photos and he was brilliant with them. He had time for every child there which was brilliant to see.

Yes I agree, very caring and genuine and he wants to play for us and it means a lot to him when he scores.

I also noticed he is talking to his teammates after goal scoring celebrations, pointing out stuff etc a real thinking player

Exactly but some say he misses a few chances!

He’s relatively new to the country, young and learning.

Not sure if they want Haaland to join us :laughing6:

24 missed chances to be precise.

But as I said, he's young and nowhere near the peak age for the striker. He will make us a tidy profit.

Great striker for us,can’t say I’ve seen many fans doubting him to be honest.

They keep forgetting what we paid for Salech

Are there doubters?

He is a good player, improving all the time. He is not Haaland, but so few are. There are scouts, analysts, and private consultants scouring players worldwide; I am sure he is on a lot of watchlists.

I think what he's saying is that a lot of crosses are late so he's having to adjust his neck or bend lean backwards than a straight forward in front of him run on to header. Arguments for both sides I guess

Big chances doesn't tell you anything about the quality of individual crosses. It's also a misunderstood stat. Haaland leads the prem in "big chances" missed

Salech stats tells me he is great at getting into goal scoring positions and will score plenty more this season

Salech has had the most shots at goal in league 1 - 72

Hes got 24 of those on target scoring 11 goals

He has an expected xg of 14.57 so slightly below expected goals

But for me he does so much more for the team, works tirelessly chasing batting harrasing centre backs, he worth more to us than any transfer fee

Also you have to have the ability to be in a position to have the "big chances". Far prefer to have a striker who misses a lot of big chances but still scores a lot of goals than a player whose position means he rarely gets a big chance but is clinical when he does. Salech has that rare ability to get half a metre in front of his marker to pop it in. His last two goals ( Doncaster and Stevenage) are classic examples
