Brian Barry Murphy has done a fantastic job at Cardiff BUT he could be on the rader of Wolves if they sack Rob Edwards

Sam,
100% not happening and they will not be interested in anyone who has been up their and done it, their fans will not accept.

Successful manager at one club
Unsuccessful club struggling in premier league
Conclusion 2 + 2 =5

That's a good head start for most ridiculous post of the week.

Football League World is not a credible source and a pile of tosh.

To be honest I never understand Rob Edwards decision on going to Wolves.
Already doomed in terms of going down when he took over.
Leaving Boro who had/ have a more than realistic chance of going up.
Are Wolves any bigger a club than Boro?
Not in my book. Plus they're worse than us for chopping and changing managers

We won’t get through the next few weeks without some idiot mentioning Howell school also.

Certainly plausible

I wouldn't rule him out being in the running. A minimum of Championship football with a club that would be in the running for an immediate return to the PREM plus probably triple his wages, a club with a big history as well.

Don't believe this for a second.
Anyone would be mad to go to Wolves at the moment anyway.
Edwards only went because of his links to the club.
Mon Dec 29, 2025 11:55 pm
Don't see this happening at all. He's started something at city. Almost like hes built this side.
Changed the philosophy of the football being played. Exciting times ahead. I don't believe that Wolves will necessarily go straight back up. I also believe that if we go up which looks likely, given the right investment we could be potentially looking at challenging for promotion again. Wolves are no bigger club than us and they change their managers like a pair of socks

Let's go back to when Edwards was given the job - the talk was if Wolves went down he would be given the chance to get them back up - Look at what happens in the Jan transfer window at that club .

In your world, maybe!
Meanwhile, here on Planet Earth, the OP has made a statement based on his own thoughts; and one that will not come to fruition
Edwards position at Wolves is ‘
safe’ for the foreseeable, as their Board has pretty much accepted their fate for this season, and are looking for their ‘
old boy’ to plan a rebuild ready for next season and beyond
It’s a (calculated) risk for Wolves, just as it was for Edwards to walk out of his previous job to go ‘
home’

BBM is in a tremendous position. He could gain more power at a football club than most modern managers could expect. You have to be in Pep or Klopp to have the say he is having.
Was it a 3 or 4-year contract? i know it was long by Vinny's standards, I can see an extension with loads of incentives and bonuses.
Did he say he planned to live here? He is 47 with a young family. What do you need in life? Health, a happy, settled family, and a decent income. He can achieve that all here. It could be a Jimmy Scoular or even a DJ type of era.
In relation to wolves, it a short priced odds-on bet that we face them in the championship next season
Cardiff City to be Promoted (League One) — 2/5
Wolves to be Relegated (Premier League) — 1/100
Combined Double Odds: ~41/100 (or 1.41 in decimals)
Crazy pointless story

Wolves were just about certain to go down before Rob Edwards took over and a miracle would have been needed to keep them up and even the most optimistic Wolves fans would know that. Despite his connections and obvious desire to manage his old club I assume he would have taken this job on the understanding that the directors knew this and his brief was to build a side ready for a swift return next year. His job starts proper in two days time as he will start that rebuilding process on 1 January. Expect to see a few "star" departures on mega money and a few signings of promising Championship players. or even League 1 players like Colwill. I would be very surprised if he is sacked.
However in the unlikely event he is sacked and BBM takes the Wolves job I could see him coming here.

Great post. Heard about this last night don't believe it for a second.

What's so wrong about the OP? High performing L1 manager linked with almost certain championship club next season.
A tale as old as time.
BBM will get linked with the majority of championship jobs from now onwards. Its a measure of success.

Cannot see murphy moving to a Championship club like wolves next season, when we are heading back there.
