Matt Turner – 6
A quiet first half overall, but stayed alert when required, notably parrying away Jack Aitchison’s long-range strike. Did what was asked without being overly tested. A dicey late clearance sent some jitters into the crowd, but generally did OK.
Perry Ng – 8
Linking well down the right and helping Cardiff build momentum early on. Defensively solid, including a key touch to disrupt a dangerous Exeter cross. Sign up to our Cardiff City WhatsApp channel here.
Dylan Lawlor – 7
Read danger well, stepping in to head clear crosses and tidy up when Exeter threatened sporadically. Calm under pressure and dependable in his positioning. Stuck a wonderful ball over the defence for Robertson's goal.
Calum Chambers – 8
Provided a steady presence at centre-back and delivered a dangerous cross that nearly led to a goal, only for Salech’s effort to be ruled out. Looked assured despite illness concerns coming into the game.
Joel Bagan – 7
A little more hit-and-miss, attacking-wise, to what we have been accustomed to. But he's the sort of player who improves as the game goes on and the type of player you need in these tight contests[\i].
Ryan Wintle – 7
Excellent defensively, repeatedly tracking runners and making key headers to relieve pressure. His work rate and positional sense were vital in snuffing out Exeter breaks.
Alex Robertson – 8
Came close to scoring with a superb curling free-kick that forced a fine save from Whitworth. Classy in midfield and quick to react when Exeter caused chaos in the box. His goal was stunning, getting the ball under his spell from a height before slotting home.
Cian Ashford – 7
Showed flashes of quality with his movement and crossing, particularly after being released by Kellyman. Hit the post in the second half after a sensational bit of interplay between him and Robertson.
Omari Kellyman – 8 (star man)
Cardiff’s standout attacking presence in the first half, constantly drawing fouls and driving at the Exeter defence. His confidence on the ball and willingness to shoot from range lifted the tempo. Really growing into this season and becoming an important player.
Isaak Davies – 7
A real menace down the left, repeatedly beating his man and pressing aggressively. Forced a good save from Joe Whitworth after capitalising on a defensive mistake.
Yousef Salech – 6
Led the line energetically and saw a well-taken goal disallowed for a foul. Worked hard to occupy defenders but service into the box was limited. Should have scored after Ashford's shot rebounded to him off the post - but struck it poorly.
Subs
Chris Willock (Davies 57) 6
Kept the ball well and always looks classy, without really impacting things a great deal.6[/b] - Tidy enough and brought that composure late on.
Ronan Kpakio (Ng 79) 7
Looked lively on the right and showed a lot of energy to get up and down late on.
David Turnbull (Kellyman 79) 6
Tidy enough and brought that composure late on.
Joel Colwill (Robertson 79) 6
Harried the opposition defenders late in the game when they tried to build up a head of steam.
Will Fish (Ashford 90) NA

That's a bit rough on Salech. The ball came off the post & he just had to do exactly what he did without time to adjust his stance or do anything but hit it, he didn't even have time to think about it. He can't be blamed for the keeper making a great save but the same people who say he needs to hit the target more will say he should have easily scored.

Thought NG had a shocker, seemed to give the ball away often

Usually agree with majority Sven, but not today. Hard to judge the keeper today , bit think 6 is too low,
NG never an 8 today , Davies for me a 6 and Salech a 7 and was given very little support as a striker .The keeper made an excellent save and as one poster mentioned he did what he could do in what had to be an instant decision

Not my ratings; my thoughts were in the MotM thread, and I tend to agree with your thoughts above
Passing up the field was too often poor, and it was difficult to see what more Matt Turner in goal could have done
