" Great to be back to winning ways "

Fri Dec 26, 2025 5:04 pm

Pleased tonight.

A game we should win and we did.

Even more pleased as we have a dreadful record on Boxing Day.

Could have scored more, sure. But defended well when we needed to.

Very happy, a deserved three points.

Alex Robertson MOTM.

Boxing day hoodoo over at last. Made hard work of it though but a vital 3 points. Its all that matters. We need Trott back. Turner did ok but not confident in him.

Trott was interviewed in the Diamond lounge before the game and said the fractured finger was healing well but it had only been a week. Didn’t say how much longer he will be out though but I guess at least a couple more weeks to repair a fracture.

The win is all that matters, but the reluctance to shoot/cross to maintain the ball is frustrating. We penetrated them many times today and then went through the motions.

Chambers and Lawler were quality. Salech is vital, even without a goal. His effort and hold up play was quality. Robertson, Wintle and Kellyman were way better than any of Exeters players. Kellyman needs to be given the freedom to have a bang.

A good, non-memorable win. Baltic, also. :laughing6:

Obviously happy with the win but the table could have been looking alot different if Bradford and Lincoln hadnt got late winners.

Anyway. Happy with the win and happy that we're top of the league

I thought as a team, we defended terribly and I don't know how we managed to keep a clean sheet.

How many times are we going to leave their player unmarked on the edge of the box when defending corners? Haven't we learned from the Bradford and Doncaster games? Either we're lazy, stupid, or both. Their players had way too much space in dangerous areas and a better team would have punished us.

We lack urgency and always give the opponents too much space. We lack a leader at the back shouting and organising.

Overall, it was a disjointed performance, with the difference being a moment of class with Lawlor's dunked through ball and Robertson's control and finish for a lovely goal.

We were quite sloppy in possession at times and we nearly threw it away at the end, once again giving their player space at the edge of the box to shoot just over the bar.

We are getting away with it at this level, but if we get back to the Championship, we will lose games like today 3-1 or 4-1.

I'm pleased with the win obviously, but I'm not pleased with the performance at all.

To end positively, Kellyman is our number 10, another excellent performance showing he's simply too good at this level. We needed to keep him in the centre to get as involved as possible.

Disagree with most of that, I never actually believed Exeter would score, but all about opinions.

As to having to play better if we are in the Championship next season, I agree - we will need better players.

But for the job of this season, getting promoted - we're doing well.

Today was by no means perfect but as we head towards 2026, it's all about getting the wins.

I think we'll beat Stevenage on Monday and things will be looking pretty if that happens.

An underwhelming performance but the three points are all that matters.
