MY VIEW: CARDIFF CITY WERE BY FAR THE BETTER TEAM AND WELL DISSEVERED THE WIN:

Boxing Day:

FIRST BOXING DAY WIN IN 14 yrs / 5Th WIN AT HOME CONSECUTIVE

The 3pts were valuable in Cardiff"s deserved Win.

Exeter came to Cardiff after 5 Consecutive away league defeats against Cardiff who were Top of the League.

FIRST-HALF: Cardiff were by far the better team, but the finishing was not there. Dominated possesion.

30mins: All one way traffic by Cardiff

44mins. Yousef Salech has the ball in the back of the net. He shoves a defender out of the way and pokes home Calum Chambers' cross. But referee Tom Reeves rightly whistles for a foul.

SECOND-HALF:

53rd min GOAL! Cardiff City 1-0 Exeter City
Gooooal! Alex Robertson with a lovely finish!
Dylan Lawlor clips a pinpoint ball over the top of the centre-halves, where Alex Robertson has made a really clever run to split them.
The Australian takes an utterly sublime first touch to get it under his spell, before placing it past Joe Whitworth with his left foot.

72min: Incredible passage of play from Cardiff. Cian Ashford cuts in from his wing and plays a sensational one-two with Alex Robertson in the box. Ashford then hits the post from 18 yards out and Yousef Salech, on the rebound, mis-hits his shot on goal and it allows Joe Whitworth time to scramble back and save!

Chambers man of the match :bluebird:

79mins Triple sub for Cardiff.

Alex Robertson off for Joel Colwill.

Omari Kellyman off for David Turnbull.

Perry Ng off for Ronan Kpakio.

Good to win that, deffo the better team but we just dont take advantage enough when we are dominating, leaves the last 15 mins tense.

Really unlucky with Ashford hitting post and Salech shot tipped over

Thought we were the much better team without being great ourselves but it's these scrappy 1-0 wins that get you over the line in may, we move on to Monday where another massive 3 points are up for grabs

Played well today and thoroughly deserved the win without really getting out of third gear.

Shame that lovely move in the 2nd half didn't finish with a goal coz 2 nil would have been far more reflective of the game.

Thought Exeter offered nothing, a very week team.

Our midfield 3 were great today and Salech put in a good shift. Chambers also good.

We just need to finish teams off better coz it was a bit squeaky bum time at the end but it never should have been for all our dominance.

A win is a win and 3 valuable points in the bag but found it a little frustrating today with so much possession and not really taking advantage of it.Too much sideways/Back passes when I thought we could have been a bit more attack minded.

Roll on Monday :bluescarf:

That was the worst I have ever seen Issak Davies play, he must have the bug that's going around.

Thought we overcomplicated it a bit today. Weird atmosphere, never got going today

Cagey from the off both on and off the pitch. Crowd never got going and I think that fed into the performance.

Atmosphere (for a 22k+ crowd) was flat today! There was little or no support for the team, more expectation from them, and hardly any interaction with the Exeter support

A deserved win in the end and, as the OP says, we were the better team all over the pitch in reality and the 3 points was the most important outcome! :ayatollah:

I think the crowd didn't get going because of the performance. It was a boring game, Exeter were a very weak team and if we played a better team we probably would have got beat. For all the possession we have we hardly create anything. Their keeper was about 5ft 6in tall and we played very few balls into the box again. Kapakio needs to play as a winger he is much more direct than Davies and Ashford. I want to be entertained and that today was poor entertainment.

The keeper is 5ft 10, which is small for a keeper.

Surprised at that looked shorter. We didn't test him enough with crosses. Why don't we cross the ball? It must be coached into them. I don't get it.

It’s frustrating as we’ve scored a lot of goals from good balls into the box. Feel like we always look for an overload around the back rather than whipping good ball in when we get the chance.

I thought we were very flat today and Exeter are probably the worst team we've faced all season.

Thought NG and Davies were especially poor, as we're the fans.

Robertson man of the match for me, thought Chambers was solid at the back without really being tested. Wintle looked good again in midfield but again there was never any real pressure on him from Exeter.

In the end an excellent win, especially with Lincoln and Bradford both scoring late winners.
