Cardiff City manager Brian Barry-Murphy

Brian Barry-Murphy insists his focus remains on keeping Cardiff City's best players in January and will only add players if they "significantly improve the squad" in the new year.

BBM:

"We're very pleased with the squad that we have and obviously if we can improve the squad significantly in any one position then that'll be our aim in all the windows moving forward. But for now I'm pretty calm about it."

Cardiff City manager Brian Barry-Murphy

Brian Barry-Murphy insists his focus remains on keeping Cardiff City's best players in January and will only add players if they "significantly improve the squad" in the new year.

"Yeah, not doing any numbers in January! That was a mistake on my part in August," he said when asked how many players he wanted in next month.

"I think you're always then being held to that.

"Without sounding boring, there's a huge focus on our own squad and making sure that we don't lose track or sight of what we're trying to improve in those players.

"We're very pleased with the squad that we have and obviously if we can improve the squad significantly in any one position then that'll be our aim in all the windows moving forward. But for now I'm pretty calm about it."

Barry-Murphy said the focus was on keeping the players who have got City into this strong position so far this season.

Brian Barry-Murphy: “ Lincoln away “

“If you look at who we’ll play on Saturday, how good they are and how good we’re going to need to be, once Tuesday subsides and you wake up on Wednesday, you quickly start to refocus," Brian began.

“I think they’ve been a brilliant club for a number of years in terms of how they’ve operated.

“They’ve recruited a calibre of player that is very effective and have developed a lot of players themselves so they have become a very attractive club for a lot of young players to be associated with.

“I’ve been to their stadium many times and it’s a brilliant stadium to play at. It’s a very daunting task but one we’re looking forward to and one that we’re going to try and overcome.”

“I’ve been to Lincoln’s Stadium many times and it’s a brilliant stadium to play at. It’s a very daunting task but one we’re looking forward to and one that we’re going to try and overcome.”

“It was an amazing evening for us all and I’m sure we’ll look back on it with fond memories, not quite as fond as we would have liked it to be. That’s now in the past and we’re looking to the future.

“All the signs that I’ve seen from our team this season is that they can quickly refocus.

“Today and tomorrow are very important training days and we’re looking for the signs of who is in the best possible condition to compete for a place in the team. We take it day by day in that way.”

“The ambition of the team is clear. We have a lot of things that we need to improve on. That was evident last Saturday and was evident on Tuesday.

“We have to remain very focused on the parts of our game that need the most attention.

“The season is so enjoyable because of how the players have worked and because they are so keen to improve. We do genuinely feel as if we have a lot of things that we need to improve upon.

“It’s a very varied approach in terms of how teams set up against us. One of the beauties of this division is the many different styles of play.

"Our focus is to try and help the players to be more adept to all situations that they face.”

David Turnbull:

“It’s great for myself playing regularly again.”

“Last year I had my injury which came at an annoying time. It’s never a good time to get one, but it’s good to get back. I had a little niggle earlier in the season just as I felt I was getting into my flow again, so it’s good to be injury free at the moment and hopefully it continues.”

“The Championship is really physical, but I’d say that League One is a lot more man-to-man. It’s been tough but enjoyable, because we’re getting more results this year and able to play the way we can.

“This season I’ve felt a lot more comfortable and getting to where I want to be, and Brian [Barry-Murphy] has helped a lot. I used to score more goals and that’s what he’s tried to get back in my game, scoring goals, and Tuesday was a good starting point. Hopefully I can get a few more before the end of the season.

"I think we’re on a good run now the past four or five wins in a row, so I think in this block of games there are a lot of games and definitely we’re playing teams at the top, we need to beat them. I think it’s an important period just to try to rack up the wins, get them under the belt and try to push our way through now.

"There are a lot of bodies in midfield. The boys have been brilliant and that’s what you’re after and what everybody wants, a bit of competition for places. You know you need to be there everyday in training, trying to take your chance and just stay in the team as much as you can, but then when you rotate you know you’re being replaced by a good player. That’s always good for a team that’s pushing up the table."
