Brian Barry-Murphy: "The stadium was incredible. The support

Wed Dec 17, 2025 8:07 am

BBM:

"The stadium was incredible. The supporters were right behind us, even at 3-1, right to the last minute. It just leaves you wanting more, and fuelling the fire of wanting to repeat it."

“You get a taste of this type of evening, and the stadium was incredible. The supporters were right behind us, even at 3-1, right to the last minute, and it just leaves you wanting more and fuelling the fire of wanting to repeat it.

“It felt electric. Obviously, we tried to be as aggressive as we could be and really try and force the pace against a high-level team, and the supporters were right behind us all the way.

“When we scored that goal, it was a moment to savour, and it generally felt as if we could push and try and win the game, but we have no regrets. We gave it everything, we tried every single thing we knew, and on tonight’s occasion it just wasn’t enough, but on any other day it may have been.”

That’s the main thing for me. Conceded and raised the atmosphere and supported the team straight away again. Fantastic and what an advert for the way we now play football.

Agree! The crowd were immense for the vast majority of the game! Neither team nor crowd let their heads drop and in this mood/combination, it just goes to show what our club could do under BBM, with the right investment, leadership, and strategy

We are a ‘big’ club in the making, and lessons from nights like this, as well as the wasted opportunities we have endured, should be used as motivation to push on and grow

BBM has created a mini revolution, and people are beginning to believe! :ayatollah:

What a difference BBM has made. When he started blooding the Academy youngsters I thought it would be a flash in the pan and he would revert to the tried and tested old heads. How wrong I was!!! He keeps adding young players who seem to have no fear. They are playing a very attractive style of football which is bound to bring back the fans. I don't think he'll need many additions in January. He doesn't want to upset the balance of the team. As long as BBM and his players keep their nerve it'll be Championship football for us next season. If he can keep the basis of this team together who knows what the future may hold.

After every Chelsea goal, the team were applauded as they set up for kick off - I’ve not witnessed that at CCS before and is a testament to the togetherness we all feel.

I think it was a reaction to the performance.

We could have back but we just played our normal game.

The stadium respected that. The manager was brave and it nearly came off.

It's quite a fanciful thought admittedly, but I really hope a few hundred of last night's 14,000 glory hunters (harsh term I know) decide they enjoyed what they saw, and come back on Boxing Day to support the revolution.

Every player played out there skin against Chelsea so i could not be more prouder of them.
In terms of the crowd i mean it was rocking and that was great.
