33/000 we still got the pulling power

Wed Dec 17, 2025 5:24 am

Proud of the team last night proud of the fans who came out in force never mind a lot of them don’t come every week but we put a show on last night to prove that our club is still worth supporting it proves we are a big club I know the support is there it’s always there if the people in the boardroom ran our club the way it supposed to be then we can have more great nights like we did last night :geek:

I hear what you saying.
But unfortunately I believe Chelsea had the pulling power.
It would be nice if they became regulars.

Glory fans half of them. The way we played and being top of the league let's hope some return for the Exeter game.

What’s the relevance of that?

33000 was because of Chelsea. There are maybe 8 clubs in the prem who we would have sold that many tickets for.

I would say 8 clubs like you we would sell out for But be it Fulham , Burnley, Brentford , Brighton and a number more Even if the away fans sold out their allocation we would not sell the rest of the tickets Big teams are a pull for any fan and particularly for those fans who only come to a few games for a number of reasons. I know a number of fans who have supported city for many years at home and away for over 30 years who now only come to a limited number of games for many reasons Last night game got them there.
They are indeed as some will call them plastic fans

I think you’re being disingenuous here.

33,000 in the Premier League and the stadium was very quiet at times

Last night the crowd was immense and right behind the team , so the majority were there from a Cardiff City fan perspective.

33,027 , not bad at all , the support is always there but generally the big crowds only come once or twice a season. 50,000 v Real Madrid, next game 20,000 , 58,000 against Leeds in 72 , next game 25,000 , 36,000 v Hereford in div 3 , next game 16,000 etc

People just don’t always realise how big Cardiff is as a city and how big the surrounding areas are.

Re: 33/000 we still got the pulling power

Yes the game was a sell out because we were playing a top Premier League club, but is that really a problem.
Dont forget it was us, Cardiff City FC, who were the lowest ranked team left in the competition, which is a great achievement in itself.
Also, because of how the ticket sales were structured, it would've been a season ticket holder who, in many cases, were able to buy the ticket for the so-called plastic.

Every football fan who attends game, at some point went to their very first game. If that first game is against Chelsea, Doncaster or AFC Timbukbloodytoo, does it really matter.

Your right about the potential catchment area of South East Wales which is 1.5M people according to Future Wales 2040, we are unique in Britain in terms of a single club capital city with that potential. Only sustainable PL football would achieve a consistent sell out of course and there is no reason apart from Tan on why we can't achieve that with a sensible budget.

Just remember Chelsea are and always will be one of our rivals we got quiet a bit of history with Chelsea we where just as much attraction to them as as they are to us

I agree with others, most came for Chelsea. Of course they did.

Will we get 25k for Exeter or Stevenage? I doubt it.

Many times in the past we've had large attendances in one-off situations.

Boxing Day fixtures, big Cup matches like last night, kids for free, bring a friend for free or for a fiver, games against any of the big teams.

Inevitably the vast majority of those "floating" supporters are nowhere to be seen for the following match.

It's always been that way and probably always will.

Let's be honest, we've hardly done anything to encourage part time fans to become full time fans over the last 30 years have we.?? Two premiership visits which resulted in two immediate relegations. We have a lunatic/dictator of an owner who has no affection for the club or fans, we now have a real manager with a team playing very good football, bring in owners who genuinely want to take the club forward with real ambition and i'm sure the fans will come back on a more regular basis.

Weirdly, the biggest crowds we have had have been under Tan.

That's because we were in the premier league playing the big boys, in RED, that made me feel sick. How was it for you.??

There’s no problem with that you right everyone has to have they first game. What the opening poster said is we still having the pulling power but I disagree they because Chelsea had the pulling power.
Unless you saying it was sheer coincidence that on a Tuesday night near Xmas a load of new fans all suddenly randomly decided to watch city at the same time regardless of the opposition. You may well be right.
The proof will be in the pudding at the next home game, after seeing that performance they should be hooked so 28000 minimum you reckon?

EVERY city fan i know felt exactly the same as me, happy to beat these teams and happy for the players (not their fault) but couldn't stomach what was going on with the rebrand, i'll ask again, how was it for you??

The free red scarves :puke: yeah that was a low point even for Tan.

You don’t know many city fans then as there were plenty who weren’t that arsed.

I was glad we were no longer facing wind up orders in the high court.

Second time around in blue I felt a lot happier but that was more because I think Warnock had us together more than previously. That team spirit carried us far as he had a fraction of the money Malky had.

I absolutely do not have a red scarf. I had four blue ones but gave them away for people to wear to the march against the rebrand. Not sure what point you are trying to make really.
