Turnbull - a turning point?

Tue Dec 16, 2025 11:34 pm

Let's be honest, Turnbull has been a bit of a disappointment since signing.

But tonight he passed well, put in a great performance and the header was something Haaland would be proud of.

I hope it's a turning point for him because he clearly has ability.

I think turnbull is the kind of player who looks better against higher quality opposition as he gets more time on the ball and is technically very good, tonight was his best performance in a city shirt in my opinion

The guy obviously has talent but tonight he was exceptional. I think he is a confidence player and I hope his performance tonight means we get to see a to class player who can influence games for us.

David Turnbull was excellent last night and for me, Man of the Match!

He does seem to be finding his feet, but I’m sure he’s had a Man of the Match accolade for us before tonight?

Fingers crossed, he’s coming into some consistent form now! :ayatollah:

I'm sure BBM has a word with Turnbull at half time, because he always played the ball square or backwards using the safe option, but 2nd half he was so positive making great runs and looking to get forward. Worcester I hope your right about a turning point! There is clearly a talented player there.

I have been a huge critic of him but even ignoring the goal, he was outstanding last night.

His passing was far more progressive and easily his best perfomance in a Cardiff shirt. I hope he gets a lot of confidence from that and we see him continue that form. He will be far too good for this league if he does!!

I think he’s been playing well in recent games also but without any praise.

Last night was his best game so let’s hope he kicks on as BBM obviously rates him

Its was a quality goal he scored.

Like most I've not been sure about him, but last night game showed he has something about him. Perhaps League One does not suit his game?

I saw a different player last night. Tackling, battling, running the hard yards - none of this has been seen previously, specifically in the same game!! His goal is actually something we've been missing in this squad; a perfectly timed late run into the box. The finish was top drawer, also.

His passing was quality; very ambitious and breaking the lines.

A very very good performance, also against Caicaido who is arguably the best in the world in his position.

Did anyone else see his cheeky nutmeg on that one Chelsea player in the second half? Very cheeky

I think it asked as many questions as it answered. I still can't work out his optimal position or system. Colwill got through a lot of work, did he physically cover for him, or create space?

I dunno, he has played well for a few games now, even when starting with Wintle, the pairing that almost brought this forum down not so long ago.

I think you've hit the nail on the head here.

I've been one of turnbulls or better known by me as turnbackwards least fans on here since he's been at the club but Tuesday night he was brilliant in every way, let's hope he continues to perform at that level. The one good crosss we actually done in the box the whole game his run was perfect timing to get the goal :bluescarf:

Likewise I have been a big critic and rightly so.
Do we know what changed? did he think with the big crowd he was back at celtic ?seriously maybe he simply responded to the large attendance ,or murphy gad said he needs to be more positive in going forward, up yo this point he has been like a horse refusing to jump the fence and has turned back ,hence your name turnback turnbull, let's hope this is a turning point for him .
